Does anyone know why Toyota recalled bed mats for the Tacoma

 

No idea but it’s one of my favorite mods

 

Been trot purchase a bed mad and was told they were recalled and no eta on replacement

Actual "recalls" are usually a safety issue mandated by Gov't.

 

I think there was just lack of supply for a while not recalled

My dealer has both in stock and for sale.

When I bought my pro last month my dealer gave me a line about how all our new vehicles must be sold with a bed mat or trunk mat for some imaginary reason. Which was fine I wanted it anyway. My corolla I bought last year didn't come with one from that same dealer so yea Canadian markup bs I suppose.

IIRC there was an OE bedcover recall, something about them coming loose while driving down the road. But never heard of a bed mat recall. Can't imagine why.

 

Toyota kept getting complaints about their rubbers breaking. Then a few months later the dreaded "I'm late!" phone call comes in and well you know the rest of the story.

 

I thought I only had to worry about the floor mat causing unintended acceleration, now I have to worry about the bed mat causing… what?

Flying out of the bed and landing on someone’s windshield?

Growing new covid mutations in the damp dirty place between the mat and bed floor?

Spontaneous combustion?

Causing rear sag resulting in decreased forward visibility, i.e. squatted truck syndrome.

Give me some help, peeps.

I have driven in strong wind on the freeway with an open bed. My bed mat stays put with nothing on it. As a matter of fact I am reminded about how heavy it is each time I pull it out to give my bed a good cleaning.
