Oh wow, haven't heard about Canoo in a while. I guess they're still a go?

Here’s a better truck to truck comparison. I just went on Ford’s site and built an EV and gas F150 XLT. The XLT Lightning with the big battery is $74K. An XLT upgraded with the 5.0 V8, 4x4 and FX4 off-road package is $58K. Once again that $16K savings buys a lot of gas. I would like av EV truck but it really makes no sense.

You could probably get the $16k difference a lot lower over 5 years, however I think this maintenance cost is way off since after 5 years you could be very well on your 3rd set of tires with the lightning. Now if you are in CA the difference is in favor of the Lightning.

That’s to say, gas prices can go up and down. Electricity will continue to go up.

And that’s on the home front. Just like the “cut the cord” streaming TV “revolution”, someone is going to get that $70-100 to get you 330 miles in a pickup truck. Will likely be rapid charging stations.

That is my guess, get everyone to convert to EV, then jack up utility fees. Gotta pay for the infrastructure somehow, companies and government want their share. Speaking of has the miles driven tax gone through yet?

Same thing happened with mobile phones, they were subsidized and now they aren’t. We pretty much can’t live without them now. Well… you could but it would be quite inconvenient.

What do you think is going to happen to electric prices once more people switch to electric cars, electric heating, ovens, etc.

What are we looking at on these charts?
    Tire’s definitely aren’t cheap.
Another thing is how many people that buy a $70K vehicle are keeping it longer than 5 years? I bet a lot of those people trade in well before they reach the point of saving money.

I have my propane on equal payments, helps keep it more reasonable.

Suggested a Bay Window since the Canoo is fairly round, but yeah Dokas are pretty damn cool too. Another one of my favorite vehicles.

Fairly certain that is where Rivian got the gear tunnel idea from.
