Hello I am getting into getting my truck out of storage. I wish it was actually garage kept stored but wasn't, my 08 prerunner Tacoma sat under oak trees on a 10 acre land of woods at my parents house. I started it about 3 years ago and ran. I didn't do anything right prior if having it stored in the 5 years. I know battery is need of replaced. And maybe some fuel carb clean out I assume?. I'll check fuses here soon and more pictures of what I'm running into, RODENT INFESTATION. I damn near had a heart attack when I open the hood and something scurries down deeper in the engine bay. Nothing looks too damaged from the eye as first but I figured to try to start it.
    1. Battery is presumingly deader then crap but I had it jumped to another vehicle to see if it starts. All it does is just turns over but doesn't start.
2.Rodent chewed important wiring/hoses. Is there a way to approach this? How do I know what is chewed and how to tell.
    3. Bad fuel or chewed fuel hose? How or where do I look to tell it's getting fuel or something else simple as in fuses gone bad in fuse box?

So with my dad's truck connected and running to my Tacoma, all lights come on and when I go to turn the ignition it turns but not starting. But I don't know if it's the battery, the stupid STUPID rodent, fuel, or whatever.

But I left after all that frustration. I want to be more prepared. There's no tools or anything so I want to be ready and get an idea what I should be bringing or looking for. .

I am not mechanically inclined but trying to learn. But I know there's way more details and info needed I will be posting here within the upcoming weekend. Thanks for any help or advice!

Post some pics of the chewed wires and lets start there.

Does the CEL come on with the key on?

    Just to confirm.
Key on, not cranking, there NO engine light that came on?

There should be one come on as soon as you turn it to run.
    If not, there’s one problem.

^This^ If the check engine light doesn't come on with the key on then the PCM isn't powered up and the truck isn't going to run so fisrt step is going to be to get the PCM online, post some pictures of the chewed wiring I bet we will find the problem there.

Sorry this is super late but finally got time and got the truck pulled out of where it was sitting and confirmed yes there was chewed wires and yes I fucking killed that damn rodent that did it stuck a trap inside the engine bay and caught him. So I took my air filter housing off and was about to do the intake but these are the pictures I have and unsure what exactly this wires are called and what they are for. Once I have the throttle body taken off I'll post better pictures but these wires are underneath the throttle body thingy

I can't see all the wire colors but best guess for the 2 I can see based on wiring diagram the Blue/Red wire goes to the Bank 2 Oil Control Valve and the Yellow wire is the #6 Fuel Injector, neither of which should cause a no-start.
