I have a feeling base models will be right at 50 and the pro 72 is my guess.

In England if you want to tow something it has to weigh less than the vehicle doing the pulling. You'd think that would equate to needing bigger vehicles, it does but they are typically run by commercial operators. Also the roads won't accommodate large vehicles like Tundras & Sequioas. Hell even a Rav4 looks big on UK roads!

Over here you can pull approximately 4x what the tow vehicle weighs in some scenarios without the need for a special license or test.

Sure gas fluctuates but historically gas price always goes up over time, just like everything. Electricity can be produced, gas will ultimately run out and isn't currently being produced, however bio fuels will come into play pretty soon...

Formula one will use 100% bio fuel by 2030, hopefully this means the return of v8's. :burnrubber:

Did almost buy Ranger or a F150 this go around, but needed a truck like “right now!” at the time. Toyota was just quicker about getting it to me.

Guess I could trade in, not sure it is worth the hassle as I hate buying vehicles.

Edit: Out of curiosity, did a Kelly Blue Book estimate on my truck, hasn’t budge at all from MSRP, guess that is one good reason to be a Tacoma cultist.

Grabbing some organic produce from Freddie’s. My wife finally a saw a Rivian in person today. She said absolutely not! (sad face). She is kind of a quasi-environmentalist, and also asked how is that thing better for the environment??? She used to work at an e-recycling company, and knows how toxic electronics are. And suggested we all should simply walk or ride bicycles, gawd knows the majority of this country could use the exercise! Want to save the planet? Get off your fat ass… (her words) lol!

Speaking of Toyota cultists, told me to stay with them, they have been very to good to us, why in the world would you buy anything else!? *yes, dear…*

I bet it would! First time for me to get close to one, only see them driving down the road. Size wise it isn’t too far off from a Tacoma. Bed is too small for me, the SUV would make more sense, now with the new Prado why even bother with the Rivian?

She likes the Tacoma better looks wise. Was a little shocked she didn’t like, while not a car person, she tends to like quirky odd vehicles.

Example being a Citroen DS. She loves those things.

I was driving next to Lightning today. I think I prefer it over the Rivian. Little bigger and cheaper. It’s still tough to believe that it is more than double what I paid for my Tacoma new. How’s that even possible?

Like those Lightnings too, probably more practical than a Rivian. This was the first time I got to spend some time looking over it. Gotta say the more I looked, (while it is nice) the more I thought what is the point of this thing? Kinda useless as a truck, just a glorified car with an open air trunk. Then started thinking about the price, yeah I don’t get it. Another guy and I were looking at it, we both knew the specs and whatnot, he was saying wonder if it has the 800 hp motors? Said to him, cool…but how practical is that for everyday street use??? think *pointing at* my Tacoma has 278, and never use it to its full potential since I drive like an old man. He laughed. We both kinda went “cool” but meh…

Back to looking at Tundras as it seems my wife is forbidding me to get a Ford, and something with an actual useable bed.

If they would just change the orientation of the headlights, make the bed 5 ft, and reduce cost by 15K, I'd consider it. I certainly dont need the race car-esque 0-60 time (who does?), crab turn capabilities, and God knows what other gimics are included.

I only have 236 HP and have never found it under powered. It has trouble not spinning the tires when it’s wet and is like a tractor in 4 low with the locker on. I’ve used it pull down storm damaged trees and drag some massive logs.
That extra cab long bed Tundra looks pretty goofy.

I wonder how much cheaper they could make it if it was only 400 HP and didn’t have all the stupid gimmicks and motorized items? I have arms and can open my own tailgate, etc.

Lights don’t bother me, looks like a sad robot. Bed size does though. It is just my wife and I, don’t need a crew cab and need a longer bed. There was an extra cab prototype, but they nixed it. Not that is matters, so many other practical options out there for much less.

More than enough for what I use it, most of the roads I drive don’t go over 65, rarely on the Interstate, but when I do it cruises fine at 80. Not sure why so many piss and moan that the Tacoma is underpowered. Had enough speeding tickets in a past life, not in a hurry these days.

The 8’ bed is goofy looking, but have practical plans for it. Dirt bikes are 7’, want to be able to haul three with the tailgate close, and want an OVR LND camper. Doing an 8’ trailer now, and want simplify things.

Buddy as a non pop up, and I really like his setup.

Are you talking about the gear tunnel? Guess it is ok for duffle bags, tool boxes and whatnot.

Dunno, always looking at what Australia has to offer, those trays with a canopy seem awful practical and useful. Camp a lot, so always looking at different, but simple solutions.
