For those keeping score: we're over the worst of the crazy-family issues. Now we just have to sort out the remaining mess.

So you can power your house with your truck, but you can't drive your truck very far from your house without a generator or a charging station?

One of Fords Exec's tried driving one to Las Vegas last month. Then on to California. He said he found it a very frustrating experience that showed how much work they have ahead of them to make this a viable option. And he wasn't towing anything. And I think he flew home.

So, we have some developing news.

Pending a meeting with our financial advisor and the final numbers from the estate from Dad and Joyce (my stepmom), and no catastrophic events in the next year, I (we) may be retiring in about a year. The plan was to work 10-12 years, secure our insurance benefits, and go on our happy way at 62 or 65, depending on the finances.

As it turns out, Gwen with her career and the independent investors the doctor group she worked with used, has us pretty well ready to go. And while we wish wish my dad and Joyce had spent the money, the preliminary numbers look like we don't have to wait. We'll know for sure later this fall.

Our tentative plan is for me to retire at the end of fiscal year 2024 (end of September) and move to SE Tennessee the following spring (no state income tax, lower cost of living). We have friends there, and really enjoyed the time we spent there on our trip last fall. We want a house on a few acres and are beginning to explore the option of buying land and building the house we want.

    Big changes. New adventures. Excitement.

Whew, cant believe it's been over 2 weeks since I've been on here. Had some unexpected stuff around the house get added to my plate that had to get done before my parents and my sister and her family rolled into town last week. And we're hosting people over the next 2 weekends while still trying to wrap up projects. I suck at relaxing.

Anyway, to answer your question Dave, it's a 1997 80 Series Land Cruiser on a 2, maybe 3" lift and OME shocks, 35s and is double locked with ARB air lockers (technically it's triple locked as you can lock the transfer case so the driveshafts are also locked). Haven't been able to play in it yet as I'm fixing a leak in the coolant lines to the rear heater, along with a couple other issues not unusual for a 27 year old vehicle with 257k miles. But I already love it. We had a 97 LC about 20 years ago that Jenn used to drive the kids around in, so there's some nostalgia there too.

That's awesome! I need to augment my retirement portfolio with some lotto tickets.
