My 2010 Taco won't start. It's never done this before. You guys are better than google. What are the fuses I should look at? The battery is strong and it turns over really good.

An engine uses fuel, spark and air. Check your fuses related to those. If you have starter fluid shoot that in the intake and if it fires for a second then you know it’s fuel related.

Does the CEL come one when the key is turned on?

Does the tach move during cranking?

Is the security light next to the clock flashing with the key on?

When you turn the key to start, what happens? You just hear a click? Crank but no start?

Battery terminals are often neglected. If they’re acid covered, clean it so at least you have good contact between the terminals and posts.

The Tach does not move when turning over. Replaced Crank position sensor after it kicked a code. Still won't fire.

I do not notice the security light come on.

The battery terminals are in great shape.

If the tach isn’t moving, the engine won’t start.
What code did you have before you replaced the crank sensor?
Are you sure it’s in flush and connected good?

Also, what brand was the sensor?

It's a Duralast sensor. I paid a guy to do it so it better be tight. lol I don't remember the code. Double whammy. He had to disconnect an AC line to put the remove and put the new sensor. Now I have to recharge the AC if we get it running.

    Thanks for your help.

The injectors and coils won’t work with out a crank signal.

No tach movement pretty much means no crank signal.
I’d focus on the crank signal. Start at the sensor and inspect the wiring.
As for the sensor itself, all you can do without a scope is resistance checks.
Or take it back to the guy that “fixed it” and tell him it’s broke.

This is awesome. Thank you. The guy came here. He put on a new crankshaft sensor. It didn't work. He swore that's what the code read. I am not a replace it till you find the problem guy but I feel like that is just what happened. Something in my head was telling me noooooo!!! I I've had to many Toyotas and never had this problem. He promised me all of the fuses and relays are good. So in short I have a CPS, need to charge my AC and my truck will not start for the total price of $530. I am taking time to think about it and research more.

It has 2 cam shaft sensors. If just one is bad will that keep it from starting? I can do the cam shaft sensors myself.

I've had 2 Celica's (I only sold my second one because I found out real quick putting car seats in the back seat is a nightmare), a Camry and now my Taco. My son has a 2002 corolla and my wife is on her second Camry. It is a 2014. This has never happened.

@Dm93 experimented with the cam sensors once.
I forget, but I think the engine will run with one disconnected, but not both.
I forget. I tagged him. Maybe he will remember.

If you have a multimeter, I’ll be happy happy to help you test the wiring to and from the ECM.
Other than that, you really need a scope. It would make life so much easier.

Pretty sure it will run with both unplugged if the crank sensor signal is good, I onow it will not run with no crank sensor signal.
