The first thing I do is get a couple non chipped keys made, then take a piece of 10ga copper wire bent in a long loop and bolt it to the driver's rear of the truck frame.
All I have to do is reach under the bumper for a door key.
It allows you to always be able to enter a locked truck.
Amazed at how many times I have used it for entry.

Chances are high the keys are in the truck, unless you have the house key on the same key ring and then you might of had to use it to enter the house.

    Good luck

I'd call Memphis Raines, Sphinx, and Sara (Sway) Wayland. If they can't start it nobody c an.

But seriously..scour the house. Gotta be there somewhere I think.

Human nature to forget to get a spare, I just got one for my wife's Rav4 after 3 years. I have had a regular key all along that can at least open the door if she locks the keys in.

I had a 72 FJ-55 Landcruiser that I could start with my thumbnail when it got long enough. But I preferred to use the Buck hunting knife I kept in the truck.

GM locked the steering columns starting with the 1969 model year. I think the Fords came a year later ('70 model year). My mate had a '68 Cougar XR-7. All you needed to drive that away was a coat hanger to open the door, and a some wires with alligator clips...

Another mate had a old Ford Cowboy Cadillac (F-150). That thing didn't need a key... The ignition cylinder pins were shot, so all you had to do was turn it...

Yep, tore the whole house apart.... we even went through all the trash. I do have a special needs kid who has been known to flush things down the toilet for amusement. I don't know, but I'm beginning to suspect this was what occurred.

Truck is locked; I have Ring footage of carrying the key inside. Habitually I set it on a small shelf or on a counter in the kitchen, but nowhere to be found. Yep, searched the whole house; room, kids room, guest room, office, garage, trash, backyard, outside the fence in the backyard, everywhere. Last remaining theory is my special needs kid who thinks it's entertaining to flush things.

Yep, you're right. As stated; "my dumb ass never got a backup key." Yes, it was on the list of things to do... like it was for the last 2 years hahahaha. Lack of urgency I guess... Shoulda coulda woulda lol. Lesson learned the worst way possible. :(

My wife has never failed to find something that was actually still in the house. In this case she searched hardcore for an entire day. Fearing kiddo flushed em down the john at this point.

If a mother can't find it, it doesn't exist. Plan on double the cost of the dealerships quote, because you want 2 keys now. Right?

    1. Drove the vehicle Monday, no key Tuesday morning.
    2. Intercepted the trash and transferred everything piece by piece into a new trash bag. No joy.
    3. Nobody else has driven the truck, just me. Ring footage shows me bringing the key in the house after locking it.
    4. Locked; no access at all.

Couldn't find the key trying to leave for work Tuesday morning. All-day search ensues (by wife) after I leave for work an hour late on the motorcycle haha. Wife never fails to find something if it's there. More searching after work - every step retraced. Last theory is special needs kiddo who has a history of flushing things for entertainment.

Correct - H-key sounds right. It's not push-button car - the manual transmission ones are turn-key ignition, and yes the immobilizer will have to be programmed to accept a new key.

I wish I had... but Ring footage says otherwise. I definitely brought in the house.

$800 worth of searching done! Still no key... I'm thinking they got flushed by our special needs kiddo; he's got a history of flushing things for entertainment. :(

Bought used. As-is. When I picked it up, I asked for the other key and they said there's only one. It wasn't a Toyota dealer; it was a Ford dealer who took it in as a trade-in, and they said they only had the one key.

Multiple times. Could have got flushed :( We have a kid in the house who has been known to do such a thing. He's special needs so I can't even be pissed about it. I know better than to leave the keys around.
