Last week An apprentice at work told me his brother at 24-26 years just bought one for 60k and showed me video of him doing donuts. Apparently he rolled it and busted a door. Smh ‍♂️

Chevy makes a neat Colorado with an optional Duramax too. I wouldn't mind owning one. But I was going to suggest, if you can, keep your Taco, and buy in a new truck. Have both! I did, no regrets. It's fun to put one away and run the other one for a bit. It keeps the fun of ownership fresh.

We just bought a new car but keeping the 95 sx taco for driving where others will not. Something about them redneck car washes just don’t agree with something you do not really own yet. But if you do sell it there are plenty of dog hunters in Georgia that will pay good money for it, not as much as they would a single cab but more than someone who wants it for the road. I get offers higher than what I have in mine often even with 290k and no ac

3.0 dmax has a timing belt at the rear of the engine...no thanks. That is a planned maintenance item (unless GM has invented a "lifetime" belt, then it's an unplanned maintenance item). I always prefer a Toyota, but the 2.7 F150's seem to be well received if you aren't towing/hauling often.

Edit to add: I have and love a Prius V. The new ones look great, but no V model.

OMG that's an awesome vid, I laughed out loud.

As far as the truck goes, let it go. buy a new TRD or TRD pro and start over. Take care of it and pass that one down.

I go through this every couple of years. The new truck lust is strong, then one day I'll be driving along and find myself saying "you know this old tuck is kinda cool, I think I'll keep her"

I can’t believe no one’s said this, but I would never consider buying a new diesel unless I needed it for a business. They’re not very reliable nowadays with all the emissions equipment. I’ve heard of some people hauling with them and they go into limp mode every few weeks and leave the owners stranded.

Why are the single cabs more sought after down there?

I loved how nimble my old 98 regular cab was, but the extra space and power of my V6 extra an is a pretty good trade off m.

Why would you get rid of one of the world's most reliable trucks just to get a "new" truck that's not even a Toyota?

Hi - How many miles would you recommend before the valve adjustment please? & any idea what this costs to have done?

IIRC Toyota recommends it every 60k, but they usually don’t go out of adjustment until 150-200k. The rule of thumb is to adjust them if you’re not sure when they were last done. In fact, I’d have a compression test don’t to make sure you don’t have a burnt valve: that’s a common issue when the adjustments are neglected. I’d say maybe a shop would charge $400 or so to adjust them, but that’s just a guess .

I also have a 90 Mustang 350 hp and I can never understand how come my Tacoma gets more respect Just got a 99 Jeep TJ that I rebuilt, and painted in the garage
First gens are going for six to eight grand where I live. Even with mega miles. Just no rust

So you basically have the descendent to the 5vz and then turbo'd and stuck in a tundra.....
