My old stomping grounds. My Boss at the Pentagon lived in Harpers Ferry and drove to DC every day. Better him than me.
Love that area and backpacked thru there in the 70's towards North Carolina. Made it over a few years in between jobs. Also hiked the C&O canal. 125 miles.
I'm too old for that now. LMAO

Well that didn't work out very well !!!

Decided to go to my local Friday Evening car show/ cruise in even though its way to hot and humid outside. My plan was not to take the Camaro but drive my truck there as I just wanted to check out the new location . I got there at 1700hrs and it was a nice 98° / feels like 109° and was warm enough the battery in my phone was displaying a overheat warning

Started walking around the large mall parking lot and started feeling queasy and light headed . I kept drinking the water I brought with me but still didnt feel well and decided to head back home

These past few years since being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and the meds I'm taking to control it . The hot humid summer's here have really messed me up

Just got done drinking a bottle Gatorade , a package of Ritz crackers and the AC set to 73° and feeling better

I’m glad you’re feeling better. Heat related issues are not fun. When I was on steroids for my eyes I couldn’t go out in the heat/sun without some sort of issue.

there is a battle field 2 miles from the house(Battle of the Piedmont). and 3 miles from the house was the prayer tree. it was a big old oak that Stonewall Jackson sat under and prayed. it finally fell yrs. ago. owner gave the wood to a group of local wood workers if they gave portion of procedes to veteran organizations. ive got an ink pen made out of the prayer tree.

I wonder what else was made of the tree that’s an awesome keepsake!! The things we have close to home are things Sherman burned. I’m not sure if it’s still there but we found the chimney butt and front steps of my wife’s people’s home. Near Stonesboro sc it was the Baxter Bailey plantation Sherman burned it down and they built a log structure in the aftermath.
