True… I had a 66 impala and once a few of us chevrolet owners tried to see whose key fit the other’s. Usually one key would either crank or open the locked door. Not very secure but didn’t really have a problem like today

Many years ago back when roombas were first starting to appear, I lived in a rented house. The landlord was a little nuts with furnishing said house with white paint, white tile, white trim, and white carpet. Anyways, while I was at work, one of the dogs went to work in the carpeted guest bedrooms. I got home to what looked like a set of muddy tank treads that had just invaded a snow blanketed field.

I didn't know whether to clean the carpet or the Roomba. Neither were looking great. Ever lift the hood of your truck after a full day of spinning wheels in mud? That. Only it reeked of digested Purina that's been left on a warm stove. It was not fun to disassemble, clean, and reassemble. It never worked right after that, and the smell never went away. It was inside the motor windings.

I tossed it about a month after that. The carpet got a pass with the rug machine they rent at grocery stores. The landlord was never the wiser.

That's a good question. Though I run a $500 deductible so it would still cost that much.

    I definitely would not.

So...where is the last time you had it? That you can remember.

Smoking a bowl on the couch?
    Tequila shots in the kitchen?
    Or don't remember at all?

Pretty small window of time for the key to go missing; Monday I drove home from work. Brought the key in the house (ring doorbell confirms). Normally I leave the key on a shelf inside the front door or the kitchen counter, but can't specifically recall this time. Tuesday morning, nowhere to be found. There was about an hour and a half where I was working on my computer after I got home and the kids got home from school. I have a 12y/o who was doing homework and a 9y/o with special needs who was running around, bored because I didn't give him the ipad. I can see and hear most of what he does from my seat in the office, but I was somewhat focused on work, so some opportunity for shenanigans. Wife got home from work, we had some dinner, kids to bed, and the [lack of] key was noticed in the morning around 6:45 when I was trying to leave for work. I'm careful not to default to blaming him, but after tearing the whole house apart, it's about the only theory we haven't ruled out. Also, he has been known to flush several sets of airpods and a few other random things (that we know of).

Push your car closer to your house and see if it recognizes it.

on my 4runner we lost the keys and it was pinned under the drivers seat and I looked multiple times.

How did this turn out OP? I needed to drop my 4Runner off at the body shop and rode my bike home afterwards. Later that day, I had a doctor appointment and my Tacoma keys were missing. I searched for 2 hours, missed my appointment and watched my Ring camera for the last time I drove it and I came inside through the garage. I found them in my tool box because I had to fix my bicycle tire before riding home, they must have been in my hand when I was putting the tools away. The ONE time I only have one vehicle available (my 40 is still in storage) and I couldn't find the only key I had for it, only came with one key. I hope you found yours! I know this post is old, but I would have placed a similar looking key where you think you left yours and watch your kid to see if he picks it up, and where he takes it. If he is the culprit, he may have just hidden it and not flushed it, and he might lead you to it's location with another key!
