    Good morning everyone! Stay safe.

I have a funny story about about tree removal. I guy I worked with 15 years ago worked as a part time tree trimmer. He contracted with a home owner to take down 3 trees. He did the job, but was later contacted by the home owner as why he didn't show up to do the work. He was watching the news when he called and someone was wondering if any body had info about who took down 3 trees in his yard. He went to a same address on the south side of town when the job was on the north side. So he told the guy his truck was in the shop for repairs. It was a well known tree service in town that he used the equipment from.

Painting Putz #1 out of the way. Did you know drying time at 104+* is very minimal?
Was tired of spreading Back to Black over the bumpers, so some Rustoleum trim paint I found worked just wonders.

Only 1 1/4 can! Now those old bumpers were used when I got them, and they weren't even called DV8 then, they were the "EBay China Bumper". But my 3 years old Rhino steps aren't looking a whole lot better. Let's see if I can find that Amazon order......

Good morning and a happy Saturday to everyone. Went downstairs this morning to a note from the wife, "Two tires have low air pressure". Off to BJ's this morning to put air in the tires and maybe a gas fill-up. Not much else going on unless I go and pick up a prescription at Harris Teeter that I do not need refilled yet,:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:, on a Saturday, I don't think so. Maybe tomorrow after I go to the farmer's market. Think I might make tomato soup today, depends on the number of Roma tomatoes in the garden.

    Morning
For years my WiFi has evolved slowly (aka cheaply). My house has the worse cell reception
in the world lol. So like many I sync my house phone with my cells and my cells work very well
However, outside the house I have no WiFi. I have tried range extender stuff and it doesn’t work.
So the past few days I’ve been playing with a different idea.
I decided to run a cat6 line to my garage.
I won’t bother you with micro details but the line had to run underground in my garage door wire tube.
    Wasn’t fun.
    IMG_7101.jpg

So I ran the line haphazardly through my basement to my router.
After 2 different extenders would not access 5g I finally got one that did.
Again friggin crap directions and spent the better part of a day trying to get it to work in AP mode.

Once I got signal I installed the unit nicely in my garage.

    IMG_7125.jpg

So now this thing is powerful. I can walk to the end of my property and get full bar power.

So last night I had a time where I was standing in my garage, leaning against my boat, and just got lost in “sanctuary” level 2 mode. Could not do anything electronic before and this just raised the bar.
I was there for 45min, just fuckin off, and didn’t realize it.
So now I have the power to add wireless cameras around the house..

So for 3 days of tinkering and $50.00, another successful project 90% done.
Still need to figure if I want to leave the cable run as is in the basement, or pretty it up some more.
If I say screw it, it’s 100% done.

Sometimes, it’s the littlest things that cause the greatest personal satisfaction results.
I can add a flat screen TV in there now.. LOL

Since you have already run the Cat6 cable, you might want to consider a mesh network in the future. Extenders just do not perform as well as a mesh network, but if it is working for you then stay with it. A Cat6 back haul cable is the way to go. Cat 6 was not out yet when I ran my cables but a Cat 5E cable works great with a WiFi 5 mesh network.

Yea I had just learned about a AP extension and for 50 bucks it was worth my wallet opening to
try. A mesh system (which I just learned about also) doesn’t meet my needs at this point.
A new router, receivers, firing off a whole new system, etc for only me doing WiFi stuff out of the house is way beyond budget vs reward.
My phone is the only device that needs to “switch” networks and does it pretty well since I lose WiFi severely between the house and garage. I’ll push a button or two if I have to… Lol…

Good Morning everyone! Nice Saturday here to enjoy the outdoors. Not to hot, little cloudy hi of 74.

Let a neighborhood kid mow the lawn yesterday, third time, not really happy with the job again. But he came with a little sales pitch how his dad said he has to earn some money to help support his BMX racing and he's a little young to work fast food or push carts at a store. Can't seem to get him to put the gutter extensions back on or follow a straight line.. There not hinged because I have had them crushed a few. It's just easier. I'll give him a "a" for effort and a c- for quality.
Nice job Mike on the Internet run.

Kurt the paint on the bumper was a great find. I've found a couple restoration products that look great for a couple days. But that looks like it fixed the chalkyness.

Put a chalk line down for him to follow the first and second pass…
Maybe he is afraid to try and put the extensions back on..tee hee..

Mike if I lived closer to you I have given you a wire fishing kit/tool that was given to me I have never used it's a twin 16' small wire and up to 12 gage for electricians for conduit and wall use. Got it at a rummage sale by a gal who lost her husband. I bought a box of new, boxes, outlets and switches he had left over. I was replacing mine in my house because they were wearing out. Gave the boxes away. But the outlets were a huge savings. Cords now stay plugged in and reduces the fire hazard that causes. The joys of track housing cheep outlets and lazy push in wiring.

Wait till they get some fiber your way. They're running it all over the place.
I've had 1 gig fiber for about a year and a half. Nothing like it.
Have a mesh with 2 EERO devices that covers everything.
