Quick favor to ask: Could someone provide a measurement from the top of the driver's seat cushion to the floor? I was thinking there was only 1.5" difference between my Wrangler and the Taco but I just measured the Wrangler and it looks like around 15 inches high, fully jacked. I'm planning on test driving tomorrow and I may purchase if everything works out. One member mentioned seat jackers and I guess that's always a possibility for a close fit. The ones I found with a quick Google raise the seat 1.25 inches.
    Many thanks!

Mine raise it about that much. While it’s better, I’ve thought 3/4” would have been ideal.

If I were to buy another car I would rent one first - take it for a 200-300 mile ride for a few days. Some dealership have rentals / try before you buy. I was in a small town once where the dealer let me take the truck home overnight. Split the cost of the rental. I would wait for inventory to build back up. Good luck.https://www.toyota.com/rental/tacoma.html

Thanks and OMG. There are two dealers in the same town about two hours away and I was going to head down today but I called before I went and neither one has what they are advertising on their websites. Everything is in transit; same with a local dealer just 20 minutes away. I like the one saleslady I've been communicating with---she is really on top of this and she doesn't want to let me get away. Today she said they could have what I want arriving today and if not, "certainly by the end of the month." We'll see. At least here in Pennsatucky, they get them in and they're gone. It was tempting to wait until next year and even think about a hybrid but I'm not wild about the looks of the 2024's and the Jeep needs a set of tires, brakes, an alignment… My local dealer doesn't have a new Tacoma on the lot. The newest thing they have is a 2019. It's frustrating and I'm ready to get off the pot!

I love my sport, I have the factory tonneau cover and let me tell you that its not water leak proof, with rain or car wash water can get in, not to bad thought, just little on sides between tailgate and wheel well.

You really want to act if it’s a 2023 you are interested in. Only one more allocation approximately the 6th and then its 2024 mostly.
i was wanting a 2023 TRD with roof and not hung up on color. Bought Limited 4wd that will arrive the 6th yesterday. Pickings are slim. Good luck

I found this to be true with my factory hard tonneau as well.

I put in the bed mat and keep anything important about 2 inches away from the wall and my stuff stays dry. The bed mat really stops things from sliding around.

Yeah, pickins are slim. I've been in touch with at least six dealerships and all they can tell me is that they have them on the way. I still haven't ruled out an Off Road. The dealership two hours away with the ambitious saleslady has one in the color I want. If she gets in a Sport this week, I'd like to be able to drive them both. Is there really that much of a difference in the ride? It seems odd that the Off Road would have a more plush ride on the highway but I guess that's what I'm hearing.
On the subject of tonneau covers, I think I'll get the truck and then that will be my next project (expense). Those Diamondbacks look bulletproof but probably a lot more than I need. I'll probably go with a rollup or at least something that I can remove and reset quickly.
I guess no one can provide a driver's seat measurement. :D If it's close, for $100 the Seat Jackers will give me another 1.25 inches.

I come up with about 10.5 inches.

That may be slightly off, since I assume you wanted a measurement from the front of the seat to the floor, and I had to go at a slight angle to get that due to the hump in the floor directly under the front of the seat.

FWIW, I'm 6'2" and I had though of ordering the seat risers when I ordered my truck. After driving the truck for 15000 miles, I don't see the need for them. The seat and seating position is very comfortable to me. Obviously, comfort is highly subjective.

The only mods I made to my seating area were Weathertech floor mats and those little foam cushions that go between the seat and the console that prevent the things I drop constantly from going under the seat.

Edit: Not sure if it makes a difference, but I do have a Limited with the heated leather seats.

Toss UnderCover Elite One-Piece Tonneau Cover in for you.
Sold these for years at Toyota dealership, retired and put one on my TRD for 10 years, bought 2023 4cly and put one on it.
Trading that in on the 6th and dealership will take off the Toyota topper that GST orders 100% on LIMITEDS put the one off my 9mo old trade on the Limited. I believe in them.
I’m 75 and my wife and i can remove or put on in under 5 minutes. I have done single handed by having it in garage and backing up to it.

Again, as we draw down the 6cly Taco’s are about to be very had to find and expensive. Lots of people are going to want a real 6cly at the end. I wanted a TRD WITH ROOF but settled yesterday for LIMITED 4wd and i spent 46 years at a store over half as GM. But retired 10 years the people who can help are retired as well.
    Good luck

Many thanks gents! I'm heading to the garage to drop the Jeep seat down to 10.5 inches and see what it feels like. :)

I skipped it. While I was out mowing grass, the dealership left a message saying they have good news for me so hopefully by Monday I will be sitting in one. I'm guessing they got the Sport in so I can check them both out.

Good luck - hope it works out for you! I’m still waiting for one that was built and shipped or ready to ship and got “pulled for inspection” (this was about 6 weeks ago - as of 3-4 days ago, it’s still “pulled for inspection”)

BTW I’m an old guy that ordered a sport!

It's sitting quietly in my garage! The TRD Sport arrived at the dealership in Harrisburg, about two hours away, yesterday morning. I spoke with the sales manager and told her I couldn't make it because of my schedule and she said they had another party interested (I hate it when they play this game---you better get down here right now or it won't be here when you get here). With the possibility of it being sold out from under me I did a quick Google and ended up on Car Gurus and found exactly what I was looking for at a dealership I never heard of in Hazleton, about an hour and 20 minutes away. I called to make sure it was there and headed on over and made a deal. I also very much liked a Trail Edition in Lunar Rock. I drove both trucks and I could definitely feel the difference between them. I drove the Sport on a relatively decent road and then took the Trail Edition on a bumpier road at a lower speed. It definitely soaked up the bumps nice but after reviewing my needs for business and driving habits, the Sport won out. One of the drawbacks on the TE was the lack of cargo space in the bed. For whatever reason, Toyota built in a cooler on the left and a storage compartment on the right. I have a Yeti cooler and plenty of storage in the cabin, so this stuff was just taking up space for me. It also had a nice folding Tonneau cover, but with some of the taller stuff I want to haul (dirtbike, dock box, garbage can, etc.) it probably just wouldn't work for me. I did really like the looks of that TE though, once I saw it in person. The grill with the TOYOTA badge was pretty bad ass, but I could probably grab one from a salvage yard if just the emblem doesn't suit on down the road. The dealer said a guy bought a TE and ripped out the cooler and storage compartment but I just didn't feel like paying for something I was going to rip out and not use and then there was still the issue with the Tonneau cover. It was very nice, high quality, but just didn't suit my needs.
I got a fair deal and it's over now. Between the trade and the discount, I came in $3200 under the dealership that wanted to sell me that slightly used Sport with a few hundred miles on it. This was just better all the way around and I ended up going with financing, rather than robbing my IRA. I got the factory warranty, a good financing rate through Toyota, and a brand-new previously untitled truck. It's going to take me a while to get through all the gadgets and gizmos and settings but I was able to connect with Google Maps this morning. I have a Garmin GPS but sometimes it can't seem to find what I'm looking for and I end up using my phone anyway but now I can look at it on my 8 inch screen. I'm just wondering though, if I am out in the boonies and don't have a cell signal will Google Maps still work via GPS? I guess it must run through the truck's GPS (hopefully)? I can always keep the Garmin on board if a cell signal is necessary but I'd rather not have the clutter on the dash.
Anyway, I want to thank everyone for all their help on this project! I'll get a pic of us posted when I get a chance. LOL… :)

You can download a certain size area on google maps and make it available offline.

I have not done it, but I have heard it is possible to do. I wish I could help you with the specifics.

    Congrats on the new truck.

Congrats on your new ride! Post a pic when you can. I'm waiting for my 23 Sport DBCB 4x4 Lunar Gray to arrive sometime next week. Currently driving a 2010 OR with 190K miles. It's been a fantastic, very reliable truck. I'm torn on whether to sell or lift and turn it into a true rock crawler. Anyone else go from an OR to a Sport?
