A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Thanks for the compliments on the bumper - it's lasted a whole night! Seriously, I am a good test as there is no garage, and plenty of sun. Has to last longer than the 30 days I get out of rub on stuff! On to the front today, and ordered enough to make sure I can get the side steps soon.

Nice work "fishing" @Tacoma Mike ! Having a signal in the garage let's me play Sirius Oldies on the computer, and into the little amp. I invested in a little Tenda Mesh from Amazon a few years back, and it has changed how reliable everything is in the house and beyond. Just plug a little cube in to the wall, tell the app you added it, and off you go! I can get the signal out in the shed by the pool, so music everywhere!

Just came up on a Delorian being used as an every day driver ruff very ruff. Kinda reminded you of a aluminum fishing boat that's never had the algae and water stains washed ever. :rofl:now at the gym.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/handyfolk. We somehow managed to bounce a check last week, yikes! Not just any check -- the real estate tax check. We keep 3 accounts, hers/his/ours; apparently we miscalculated the amount we needed to transfer into the "ours" account, and it came up short. We're fixing it, hopefully, but of course this is all happening at the end of the month AND on the weekend AND the day before we're leaving for a week in Cape Cod. Ugh!

Nice! When we had the garage built I insisted on ethernet going out to it along with the rest. It should be standard these days if you ask me.

We have almost zilch cell signal too so I put a TP-Link mesh rig in a year or so ago. The nice thing about it is that they have indoor and outdoor AP's, and all the AP's use Power over Ethernet (PoE) which means all they need is an ethernet cable to operate. Now we have a single, seamless WiFi network in the house, garage, and yard.

One thing I'd suggest to you is to switch from linking your phone to your homeline and instead activate WiFi calling on your cellphone. This will work with your home WiFi as well as any other WiFi network, and can be really handy when cell signal is weak anywhere.

Yea I have fiber here. I hate change.
I am grandfathered with tv etc and for me I would lose over 100 stations if
I switched and some stuff I watch cost extra now. We were going to go with a faster rate
but, we don’t game etc. At some point when shit gets to expensive I may have to but, for
what I do, $50 was the best addition..

    Mmmm

I have WiFi calling through my house phone. Not sure I was explaining it right. I have cable phone with free long distance. So I connect to my house phone. I need to experiment and look at the phone stuff to see if it will pick up this other ap unit. Don’t matter one way it the other really..

I ditched my landline last month. Had it coming in on the fiber.
When I retired, I lost any and all discounts from the company I worked for (those bastids), and thanks for your 40 years of service.:brianr:

Never got that close to one, lambo's, SRT8's, Vipers, Vets and a Rolls. Did you get the Viper certificate. We had. A sales guy that had a twin turbod 300 SRT8 that was set up in the shop. The only give away was his brake calipers and rotors since he had the badging removed.

CAT 6 will support multi gig speeds. CAT 5E up to 1 gig. I was in Telecommunications my entire life. CAT 5E is what I had available when I ran cable runs to the upstairs computer room, living room, and to the garage. I have a 10/100/1000 mpbs dumb switch at the end of each run for connectivity to my different devices. I tried an extender but was not happy, so I implemented a Synology Wi-Fi 5 Soultion for a 2-node mesh network. Cost was right at $200 and provides coverage for the house and grounds. I do not need Wi-Fi 6 at this point, and I am too old to be pulling cable through attics now days. ;) Synology makes a really nice platform to build on and the router has a SD card slot that can be programmed as a NAS, great for simple file sharing of downloading pictures to the TV. BTW Verizon only provides 1 gig service no multi gig in the near future and I have FIOS.

I was in the biz as well.
Most of my career I was a splicer and lineman, worked with stone axes and sharpened shells, lol.
Last couple years I was in logistics dealing with everything for the fiber build.
My place offered fiber from 500meg to 2 and 5 gig.
The EEROs are nice mesh units. Think they had 4 models, one for copper and 3 for fiber.

Good news. I live in a log cabin away from town.
Bad news. They won't run cable or fiber optic here. DSL will be eliminated any day.
