I have a 2011 toyota tacoma off road with 164,000 miles on it. I have never touched any of the suspension. I believe the off road pkg comes with 4600 bilsteins. When looking at them, they do look in pretty rough shape. The front sits 2 inches lower than the rear. I am looking to upgrade the front and rear shocks with bilstein 5100s. Since the front is adjustable i am going to set it at 2inches. Do you guys think this is worth the upgrade? I found the front and rear for $450. I obviously know i have to pay for labor and an alighnment. Anything else i should be aware of if this would be a good upgrade? Btw, im not a hardcore off roader, but i am on bumpy lose logging roads alot and some areas with washouts, rocks, and snow and ice. As well as everyday blacktop driving. Much appreciated on advice and feedback

I am looking to level is why im setting it at 2 inches in the front. I hope it gives the truck a better stance. Also, i am running 265 75 r16s 10 ply tires.

Are you going to be reusing your coils?

Katzkin, Dobinsons full suspension. Redlinegoods console cover and door panel arm rests, Double USB charger in dash installed, Ballistic Jesters 16x8. BlackVue DR 590 Dash Cam
You might want to replace coils too, I did mine at 160k. But I did a complete suspension upgrade/rehab using Dobinsons IMS and 314 coils set at 2.75" and dropped passenger side to 2.5" for Taco lean that put me at 23.5" front which at stock rear would have put me 1.5" nose high. On a 09 sr5.
To begin I was at 22" in rear and 22" up front with Bilstein set at 1.75 so level. Hope this gives you a little bit of insight.
I used the Dobinsons 111R leafs in the rear and that put me at 25".
    Good luck.

Replace the front coils. You have already lost height in the front due to them having that many miles on them.

Have you ever assembled a coilover before? Do you have a spring compressor? Why would use a worn out coil with a new shock?:facepalm::facepalm:

That's why you have 2 inches of difference. Truck was original an inch difference.

you can, but your original coils are old and tired. They cant hold the truck up anymore like they used to. They sag with age. So its time to get new ones.

With new coils and front & rear-shocks
You will notice a difference from the stock OR set you have.

The billy 5100, you can set the ride height differently. Just make sure that the shop sets uses the correct clip that you want.

    1st clip = 0″ (stock)
    2nd clip = 0.65″
    3rd clip = 1.1″
    4th clip = 1.55″
    5th clip = 2″

You “CAN” reuse your old coils, but it’s cheaper on labor to get a new set.

You don’t need a new leaf pack if you just want a levelled truck.

    Depending on your use case.
If you are tight on budget and depending if you do off-roading frequently. I would recommend waiting and saving up to get a decent lift kit.
But if you don’t off-road or do basic off-road, it’s mainly a daily, and you just want the truck levelled with improved suspension.
Go for the front and rear 5100, new coils.
It’s a good starting point for a lift and with a good set of AT tires it can take you on the trails.

oh and one last thing. Send us a photo of your leaf pack. You may qualify for a new recalled leaf pack from Toyota. All for free.99.

Thank you. I appreciate it. I think ill get the preassembled shock and coils set at 2 in and get the rear as well. I dont do any hardcore off roading. I just want it leveled, upgraded suspension and use it daily and as well as some logging roads with occasional rough terrain. Ill look up the recall. Thanks

If you're not looking to spend a lot, you could always look in your local classifieds or the buy/sell/trade section of this forum for some 3rd gen takeoffs from people upgrading their suspension.

Probably. My rear leafs are flat at 130k and the truck rides like ass.
