2011 Taco TRD Sport Offroading questions

Hello-I just got a brand new 2011 Taco TRD sport 4x4. From what I have been reading, the sports edition isn't really meant for off roading due to the 17 inch wheels, the shocks not being tuned for REAL off roading, and lockers, so what are the limitation of me off roading stock with no mods? Am I only limited to dunes and snowy conditions? I am looking to get better tires but I am rolling on stocks for now till they wear out. I really want to try some off roading but worried that my taco is not fit for that being that its a TRD sport not TRD off road.
I am very new to trucks and off roading so please excuse my newbieness.

It will still go! Just be aware of your surroundings and pick your lines through the trails wisely. Although it does not have a rear locker the limited slip will help versus a non TRD model.

 

with the stock, sport 4x4, you will be suprised at what you can do.
start off with some simple trails and then work your way up.
get out there and try it out

 

Agreed we had a sport with us on a trail run and he did really well with a open diff. He had to get a running start on some of the hill climbs but he made it. A good set of tires will help you a lot.

Lower your air pressure if you ever get stuck in sand or snow.

Do the yellow wire (4-Low Trac) mod. if you want to have limited slip in low range.
