geez, I could ramble on here but it’s between Russels 2002 or GTS 17/18 (I think it was 2017)

off memory alone I can’t decide

I did just crack a club pick Penelope architect that taste like cream soda, first time ever with that note, super impressed

Angles Envy holds the current title, but there is still plenty good whiskey I haven't tried yet.

I had to read up on Russell’s 2002, that’s pretty cool.

Can I pick a Tennessee rye whiskey?

Jack Daniels 2020 special release barrel proof rye for sure.

If it has to be bourbon, maybe Stagg Jr.

    Not much stock left.
Put a gun to my head. Henry McKenna 10 or Angels Envy. I’m not even sure I’ve had my favorite yet. Just got a Knob Creek 12 I haven’t opened yet. Enjoying Eagle Rare 10 at the moment.

    Going with Angels.

Edit: Good hell! Screw all the above. I’m going Old Forester 1920.

Knob Creek 12 is very good! I love me some 1920, but that KC12 is just delicious

Did a guided JD tasting tonight. Never drank No7 straight. Enjoyed it a surprising amount but the single barrel was the winner. Ended up with an ounce of each and 3 of the single barrel for $35 plus a bit of info about the distillery

I can’t tell if you’re drinking whiskey or hosting a seance.

I was tempted to say the JD 2020 rye, it’s in my top 5 all time!

I shouldn’t have said bourbon, I should have said whiskey. Bourbons are whiskies, after all!

I’d love to try the 2020 rye. About to open up the 2023 tonight.

Anyone every try the Willet Family Estate 9yr bottle - the purple top? I saw a few of these at a grocery store I go to at the lake house. Price was standard from what I’m seeing - $339. That’s up there. I searched through the thread for this bottle and didn’t see much. Did see a lot of good things on their Rye, but just curious.

Not that I’ll go buy this bottle, as that’s 5-6 bottles of really good bourbon I could get. But. Just like to see what the comments are.

Damn you guys who are seeing these hard to get bottles in grocery stores! Lol. The only purple top Willet I've seen is the one I "won" from Total Wine. I still have it, but never opened. I'm likely going to use it to trade, so I can't help you out with taste feedback.

I agree, The only way I ever see a bottle of Blantons, Eagle Rare, Weller, and E.H.Taylor is when V.A. ABC has a product drop at certain stores and sends out an email of what store to go to. Then everyone else who is on the email list is heading that way too.

If we were making a list based on value/dollar and availability, KC12 would be at the top for me. RR10 right there with it.

I’m with you. RR10 or SiB are pretty much tops for me if you factor in availability, and price even, though the SiB used to be $50 and is now $60+…

Lol yea. Venue is called the Master Cellar. They had to maintain the ambiance. I did have to laugh when they asked us for notes on the color.

Stopped to get Benchmark Bonded and noticed they had a selection of Smoke Wagon. Had I known it is MGD, I might not have gotten it. But it was only $40. Pretty decent for sure!
I've had Rare Breed before but only at a bar. This is really good! It's $65 locally.

WT101 Rye makes a killer Old Fashioned. I’ve got this dialed in with an orange bitters forward profile and thick Demerara simply syrup just makes it’s perfect! And of course the W.T.F glass tops it off!

And the view and tri tip on the grill don’t hurt :) cheers all!
