The markings seemed to indicate it was a Western Terrestrial Garter snek, but I didn’t want to lead the witness

The coloring was pretty subdued, so maybe it was about to shed or something. Regardless, I just let it pass through unmolested. Go in peace and all that.

 

Yeah it does look pretty pale and blurry so that's a good bet
