Making me want to dig MSFS 2004 out of the closet or maybe X, I played the shit out of both as a kid. Been a decade since I touched em. I had a Saitech joystick as a kid. Don't know if I own a modern joystick as all anymore.

I played X (Steam Edition) for a bit but like I told Ben, it was in the lamest form with a controller.

Though I don't know how people play a flight sim with keyboard and mouse, those are the real psychos.

Yeah dude, new flight stick has got me freaking hooked! Ain't even playing Diablo 4 anymore and I was PvPing the shit out of people.

Get on MSFS, new one coming out for 2024.

Ugh, last thing I want to do is build another computer. My laptop with the GTX 1060 is past its prime but I've completely lost interest in building new computers. I don't really game anymore and I have good hardware for photo editing which besides compiling code is the only intensive thing I do anymore.

Yeah I don't blame you; only reason why I built one is because I'll game about every other night when the kiddo and wife are sleeping (like they are now)

Yeah that brings back some serious memories. I used to be a regular on Overclock.net and hang out in the Tom's Hardware forums. Ever since I started working in IT, I just dropped it as a hobby.

Here my buddy earlier was trying to talk me into AMD's new lineup...maybe in another generation or three as they're doing the same as Intel and offering a line-up without E cores.

Though if it requires switching manufacturing process, it could delay it even longer.

I looked at building a new desktop when my buddy was staying over during the wildfire. I think I'd do the Ryzen Pro line the 7950x and maybe a RTX 3070 once they're affordable AF and the boards for the Ryzen chips are cheap. I won't bother overclocking, probably just try to undervolt so crazy VRM cooling and whatnot isn't necessary. I looked at an ASUS commercial board.

    Damn, 7950X good shit

Yeah that same friend runs a 7600X, along with 64gb of DDR5

You wanna talk expensive...a 3070 ain't bad at all but DDR5 is fucking up there in price!

Then again if you did game, you'd probably keep it at 2K anyway right?

No need to go 4K; RTX 40xx are still up there in price and AMD doesn't really have anything mid-tier worth buying.

I'm looking for things with full Adobe support, and the Pro line has it. But adobe only addresses extra cores in base 8 which is fucking dumb. So if you don't go with 16 or 30 your fucked so the 12 core deal is out unless you only want it to use 8. The AI processes eat CPUs for breakfast. My laptop sounds like it's on the tarmac preparing for takeoff when GPU compute ramps up for it.

Yeah makes sense; I never got into photo editing, model rendering, etc but yeah those rigs people build for that stuff are beastly

My main computer monitor setup is 3 color balanced Dell professional displays at 1080p each. It kick ass having the exact same image on three monitors and they're very color accurate. I used to use an ultrawide LG monitor but stopped cause the color was weirdly uneven across it, hard to dial in and I'd have to use my phone to double check my Lightroom changes.

I see it in our CNC group, people complaining about Fusion freezing and here they're asking their Gateway PC to scale down an Etsy purchased sign with over 10,000 nodes so they can cut it out for Grandma or their next trade show

I can't speak to fusion. But SolidWorks without a pro graphics card (Quadro, Tesla, or Fire GL) is unusable.
