I change my oil every 57 miles. It’s the magic number. No other number makes sense. Better safe than sorry.

They do not have lifetime warranties through Toyota. Yours might through your specific dealer but carefully check the fine print. Most of those lifetime warranty offers apply only to the original buyer and only if every service is performed by the dealer.

I did a couple of those early oil changes when the truck was brand new. I still change it every 2-3k. :anonymous::rolleyes:

Okay, we all agree we should probably change the oil somewhere between 1k and 10k miles. It gives piece and peace of mind. It's cheap insurance and a waste of money. Can we just get one rogue TW member that says f-it, I have more money than brains and in the name of science, will never change the oil on a new truck, just to see how long before failure.

I get what you're saying but 1100 miles is sufficient time to break in and seat rings. I remember when I use to race quads years ago, and also built my own race engines. Compression would be taken before start up, then after start up. You would start it up and let it idle for 10 mins, then shut it off and let it cool down. Check the compression then do it again, these are called heat cycles. You knew the engine was broken in when the compression stopped going up, usually 5-7 heat cycles. I did my first oil change on this truck at 1100 miles, that's quite a few heat cycles and driving at various speeds to break it in.
Plus when I talked to the dealer they said that these trucks come with synthetic oil in them from the factory anyway.

I always do the first oil change at 1000 miles. 5k afterward. Some folks do every 10k. I think Oil at 5k is different than oil at 10k whether it’s synthetic or not. And just because you can do every 10k doesn’t mean you must. Your truck/your call.

I Have done my first oil change at 1k mile on my 2022 tacoma trd off road. I heard it’s helpful to do it and, I plan on keeping the truck forever so was willing to do anything to make sure truck lasts as long as it possibly can.
In my opinion, do first oil change at 1k. It won’t hurt.

Thats just bs. Motor oil is motor oil at 5k, or 10k as long as it's the same oil. It's just get a a tiny bit dirtier.

It's not a pure synthetic, you can bet on that. Most oils are not really a pure synthetic, yet they can be advertised as synthetic. Amsoil is one of the few that can claim its a pure synthetic. It's fine, and overkill for these engines after they are fully broken in. I've been able to see how a pure synthetic reacts on a newly rebuilt engine thats run on a dyno....the rings just refuse to seat, ending result is excessive blow-by, and loss of hp. Even with these semi-synthetics it takes much longer for rings to seat, needing a good amount of cylinder pressure applied with a longer amount of dyno pulls.
