I just picked up this truck a few weeks ago. It has 70k miles.

I am planning to do a fluid film coat on it before winter.

I also wanted to change fluids. Should I change all fluids out? Should I flush trans fluid or just drain and refill?

Any other maintenance I should do?

Thank you. I love this community.

Nice looking truck! How's the frame? Yes do all the fluids unless you have the service records, that way you know everything is the way you want it. Trans. drain and refill unless you suspect something. Follow the maintence schedule.

Thanks! The frame has some very minor surface rust, but otherwise perfect. I looked at over 30 trucks before pulling the trigger. I’m in NJ so this one was the unicorn. The rest had too much rust.

Drain and fill the trans. There are some procedures in the sticky threads or you can search the forum or YouTube for the steps. Everything else you should be good to go

Other than the obvious / common fluids.

Grease Zerk Drive Shaft front & rear
    Transfer case fluid.
    Front diff
    Rear diff
Check ball joints upper and lower
Check bushings UCA, LCA, and sway bar.
Grease if applicable ball joints and tie rod ends.
Check if you apply for recall leaf springs.

Great looking truck! When I buy a used vehicle, I replace EVERY fluid to establish my own baseline and so that I know exactly what fluids are in my “new” used truck. Fluid Film is a great idea also… many here use it, including myself. Congrats.

The important ones are: transmission fluid, coolant and diff/transfer case fluids. If you don't have a service record or baseline for when these were last done, do them first.

My priority would be the transmission fluid. Fresh coolant also seems to be important for some engines. It becomes acidic over time with an impact on gaskets.
