Little research, and I found that Moto Guzzi and Aprilia are part of the same company. That, and the air cooling is enough to make me hesitate for the price.

Knock on wood - my Aprilia has been trouble free so far but it’s only been 2000 miles, probably 500 on dirt. Best all around bike I have ever ridden if you’re limited to a single bike for street and trails.

I definitely prefer one bike. I'm not a collector, and I like the ADV category for the jack of all trades aspect. Reliability and easy maintenance are super high on my priority list, and comfort/ease are as well. I consider performance as more of a sub-priority to comfort. I want enough performance to pass and run at highway speeds comfortably, but I don't care about wheelies, jumping it, or rip your arms off acceleration. If the CB500X wasn't so uncomfortable at high speeds, I don't know that I'd have any interest in an upgrade for a long time.

That said, I am also being frugal. I can drool over all the cool bikes, but I am clamping my wallet closed right now. I very much want to get the Taco paid off before taking anything else on, and the only thing that will move that for me is if I put a bunch more miles on the 500X and confirm that it's as miserable as it felt on the 10-15 mile stretch I ran it on. More riding needed before I can think about giving it the boot. I wanted this little bike for years, so I'm not giving up easy.

That Tuareg looks great. Love the red/orange color on it. Which color did you get? What's your typical riding, more street or dirt? Pleasure riding, commuting, dirt scooter, burnouts and wheelies, some combo of all of it?

Mine is yellow. Pleasure riding, commute, and off-road adventure stuff. I suck at wheelies. Typical daily commute is about 50/50 dirt and pavement.

@spencermarkd or anyone else, any thoughts on the Kemimoto exhaust? Very tempting for $81.

I hear good things about it and the istunt exhaust in the FB groups. Very loud but make more power than stock.

This ethanol free gas is getting a little absurd now, the only saving grace is with a 2 gallon tank it doesn't hurt that bad even at this price.

Lucky you can actually get ethanol free. Gotta love these fuel prices these days.... sigh.

That stated, I havent had an issue with ethanol (e10 is all you can get around here in CA) once I started using Startron enzyme treatment and take the 2 min to drain any carbureted stuff after use if it is going to sit for more than a few days. EFI stuff that doesnt get ridden much (my dirtbike ... sad panda) gets startron, but the grom and tenere dont as they get ridden enough to keep gas cycled and fresh.

Also.... to the milk crate crowd. My tenere joins the ranks along with my grom! Potentially doing a moto camping trip soonish and looked over at the milk crate and went... yeah thats happening.

I got the tenere with two of the givi side cases shown and then cut out n built a top case givi mount so on the day to day I can take one of the side cases and use it as a top box. NOW I also have the milk crate option to put stuff in and tie stuff to. 4 bolts thread down into the 10mm thick aluminum top case mounting plate and clamp the milk crate real good.

I haven't been keeping an eye on those message boards, but I can't imagine you aren't going to win at this point. That's insane. Well done, sir.

Once I get this batch labeled on Smugmug I'll send in the link so they can get scored. By my count I'm now at 899. I think I may have gotten a bit obsessed.......

It's such an easy way to get out and ride. I just went through their forums for a bit and I don't think I would have joined any of the other years. This theme is just too easy to go hop on a ride and participate, even if you're like me in the middle of nowhere.

Looks like you're battling someone else, as of a couple weeks ago you were 50 something behind. I'm guessing they aren't holding onto a 400 mural stash like you though :D

I just filled up my gas cans there. $82 for 11 ish gallons. I only use it for my bikes. There is a station on the way to Granite that has non ethanol but only 87 octane.

Is it a forum dedicated to a single competition each year or a bunch of different ones?
