I already have URD piggyback and 7th injector from the supercharger setup - so I'll be playing off of that. (not quite the same as full control like I have with my miata and a megasquirt, but sufficient for now)

A/R .63 GTX3071R Gen2 -- so should spool nice and low for those low rpm torqs

Yeah that's gonna spool real early, I've got a .82 housing and it lights up quick but will be cool to see the difference. I'm running a Haltech ECU so with quick spool turned on you don't notice much lag. But damn you won't even need that haha, things gonna rip!

I'm thinking so too. :) I'll have to get some video once I'm up and running later this week -- just have a few more parts to arrive so I can wrap it all up. Would have been just a weekend job if I had it all here!

Nice that's the size I would shoot for. Should be crazy torque at 2200rpms.

How does the turbo setup outputs compare to the supercharger?

It's a pretty different beast. My boost comes in around 1800-2100 RPM at 8psi and pulls hard to redline picking up to 12psi from about 3k rpm. But it's hard to make an apples to apples comparison too because most SC trucks are untuned or tuned on the goofy 7th box so theyre not really working how they're supposed to either. Everything about my boost curve is artificial since I've got boost targets for different gears and RPM and barometric pressure dialed into the haltech. Depending on how you size the turbo and what your driving preferences are you could have it any way you like it. You get a huge advantage with being able to pick every part of your own kit, response how you like it, intercooling, etc.

Here's an older video when we just started tuning for 9psi, this wasn't even with quick spool turned on.

And a more recent one that was mostly taken for sound.

Turbo has more head room but you gotta expect some turbo lag. Supercharger heats soak but the power is instant. Turbo has a lot of custom work, lots of tuning. Supercharger is bolt on and more simple. Turbo setup is more expensive, supercharger is cheaper. After driving @Speedytech7 truck, I didn't feel it was a night and day difference. YMMV. Regardless, adding boost to the 5vz is fun and makes the engine pull strong so which ever route one chooses is the right choice.

You only got to feel 6psi at altitude too with camping gear loaded up though. At which point yeah, it's about equal with the old SC.

Regardless, the lesson learned was that a need to add cylinders if i want more power.

Pretty sure you can build a turbo setup cheaper than a blower. It's not very complicated and for low boost the factory ecu works.

    Lord knows I'll need it.

Based on what I have gotten from Zane, his setup is 2x the investment I have into my S/C setup with the upgrades. There are more expensive and cheaper ways to accomplish both I am sure.

    Good to know.
I wound up filing the corners down so it wouldn't tear it trying to hammer it on.
Re tapped the thread. Bummed I even had to do that but now I know better.
Used some oldspice spray to get it on. She smelled lovely rhe remainder of the install.

Tossed on the rebuilt oem CVs also.

    ^ this 100%

I will be in for less than the supercharger setup for sure - it's not very complex and you get to intercool it. :)
