Envious of that type of range, as I hate going to the gas station. Don’t love the cost to get it though.

That would the great thing about an EV, come home and plug it in, rarely have to go a station ever again at least for commuting.

If the 2.4 imax gets the MPG they’re talking about, it’ll be real easy to get into in a few years. The new TRD OR videos (like the one TFL has) make it look better than I thought.

My 3.0 Duramax was regularly 600-700 per tank it was wonderful. Then diesel shot up so much that even at 28mpg it wasn’t that much of a savings. Unless you wanna be a rebel with red fuel.

Less worried bout the law finding out and more about GM being dicks because you have red eye somewhere.

Gas is starting to catch up to diesel prices around here.

Never paid attention to the mpgs when I first bought it, it didn’t stay stock for long. 2.5” lift, ARB, Wildernest 15-17.

Have no desire to mod the 3rd Gen, rides nice, better mileage than my ‘99.

It always ends up as a wash in the end, diesel upcharge vs. gasser poor fuel economy.

With the bikes, it is nice only have to carry one type of fuel.

Enterprise gave me a 2023 rental highlander while my truck is at the body shop. This is my first time in a Toyota with the new 2.4l and I have been pleasantly surprised. It does a really good job moving the 5000 pound suv, especially here at altitude in CO. Spent a lot of time on I70 and it absolutely eats the old 3.5l v6’s lunch when climbing over the passes.

Not much turbo lag and that extra torque is noticeable. It’s also silky smooth just like the 2gr, refined for a 4 banger. I’ve been averaging around 32 mpg as well.

I can see how a little engine tuning would make this 2.4 a great fit for the new truck I don’t think many people will miss their v6. The only thing I didn’t like was the sound. Makes the v6 sound good.

I’ve been thinking about this all day… Is this post allowed here? Seems a little too close to being on topic for this thread and it does not seem to annoy anyone.

While I like the information it might not belong here :anonymous:

Was that the hybrid highlander? Different hybrid system so I wouldn’t expect great MPG like that out of the taco but it’s encouraging!

Nope just an xle with the 2.4l. I think they are offering two types of hybrids for the highlander. A more efficient one and then they’re offering the MAX system that will be used in the taco. I don’t expect a big increase in mpg from the taco but I can see how you could easily average 24/25 if you’re a conservative driver.

I like the optimism I hear from testimonials on the 2.4T, mostly b/c we don’t have any choice. And, well, I just like optimism.

However, it does remind me a little of when I was a kid and my parents bought me the wrong bike for Christmas, which left me constantly explaining to my buddies that it really was what I wanted…

Hopefully early positive reports hold true b/c like it or not, the basic turbocharged 4 cylinder will be the motor that most will have (or afford)….Fingers crossed, but I’ll just hang onto this V6 in the meantime.

Same thing as all the 3rd gen owners trying to explain that they really want a minivan motor that makes peak torque at 4600 rpm instead of one that makes 50lb-ft more at only 1700.
