I love how cryptic you are... stuff. Ya, stuff. My students do lots of "stuff". Like I said, haven't needed one in the past 35 years, so why? If I do need one, I'll call you.

Oh, and the Kendas are getting mounted today...

Usually my trip prep consisted of packing the truck and filling it with fuel. Don’t really need to go crazy

The 5s aligned this morning on my drive in. I am happy it wasn't 55° out, but that would have been neat.

The only time I’ve used a crows foot was to torque a nut that i couldn’t get a socket on. It’s pretty rare

in a toolbox to live in the truck I could see it being more useful just to eliminate the space/weight of carrying a set of box wrenches.. but I just carry box wrenches of the sizes I need.

    Also

it’s interesting that cars use miles as the gauge of when to change the oil and not hours like a lot of other things.

everyone should add an hour meter then we can argue over how many hours to go instead lol

15k miles averaging 60 mph is 250 hours
10k miles averaging 40 mph is 250 hours
5k averaging 20 mph is also 250 hours

Double ended box ratchets can usually get to most things. I seem to recall an 07 Buick sedan that a crows foot was the perfect tool to reach th damn tensioner pulley to do a serpentine before from above.

Don't make it more convoluted for the customer. It's bad enough trying to convince Gertrude that yes, her Prius DOES need oil, and being 3 years/20,000 overdue doest qualify her for a free replacement car.

Lmao. On a 2014 that has 89,000+ on it

Literally my second week of work and the first Prius I ever did was that lady. Oof.

At the time I was completely blown away at the ignorance and intentional stupidity of some people. Now that I've been there over a year... This kind of crap no longer surprises me. I just wish the service writers were better at intercepting it.

For example, recently I had a Highlander that was tagged in Iowa but came from Arizona... Chasing down misfire codes and fuel delivery codes and all kinds of issues. We had the full story from the guy paragraph upon paragraph written out trying to detail everything he and his brother had done to the vehicle, and we were doing our due diligence and chasing things down. Trying to figure out what exactly went wrong. I had a suspicion... But I kept it to myself because the service rider was the point man for the customer. After 2 days of going through things, I hit him point blank with " Did this dude get a E85 ethanol gas when he was in Iowa?"

Turns out the customer had no clue you couldn't put E85 into a car that says don't put E85 in the tank. Literally on the fuel cap it says e15 through E85 do not put in this car.

I have no interest in finding out; but, what happens when you put E85 in a non E85 vehicle?

    BMWs are very fun!
Right up until you get your first repair bill.

Was that repair bill the same amount as the cost of lift and armor for the Taco?

    Asking for a friend.

They can run lean. It takes more ethanol to make the same power as gasoline. Gasoline stoichiometric ratio is 14.7:1 and E85 is 9.75:1. Also in older vehicals that weren't ment to handle high ethanol blends so it can be corrosive on fuel system components.

On the flip side E85 has a higher octane rating of about 105. So it's great for making power with the right fuel system components and tune.

Initially you get misfires and a lot of errors. If you keep doing it, you will very quickly have fouled injectors and seals rotted away and fuel pumps that will just quit working. Turns out ethanol is just really bad for a lot of things. It also attracts water like nobody's business.
