Easily solved with an sd card.

Does the WC6600NEX have an internal SD card? I know models like the W4400NEX has one, the whole OS is on it.

I didn’t see anything to indicate it has one. But sure would be a nice option for updates. Not sure why that wasn’t a design priority given how terrible the app’s user experience is. Not that the firmware menus are great but at least from the device itself it knows what it needs.

My 6600NEX must have shorted. Initially I thought the problem was with the Maestro device and got a warranty swap. The error continued with the replacement.

rear and front camera showed black
Mic did not work in bt or CarPlay
Sometimes the screen was frozen in reverse
Sometimes the icons were all grayed out.

just shipped it off to Pioneer for warranty repair. I hope it’s repaired and I don’t encounter any more issues. Kind of disappointed for a $1300 device.

Just installed on 2017 Pro, the entire process was straight forward. I was able to get allot of helpful ideas from previous posts.
HU is seating flush with only slight mod of the factory brackets.

Did you go with the 6600NEX head unit? im debating pulling the trigger on doing this for my truck. Would be nice to have apple car play. but at the same time my stereo works fine. either way your install looks clean.

Yes ...I installed the Pioneer 6600 head unit. As others have mentioned, it took longer to adjust the bracket to get a flush mount.
I saw another Tacoma that had the JVC 7" radio installed, doesn't compare to a 9" screen.

Ok all, just read the thread, I have a 2023 TRD Off Road, and looking at replacing the HU and JBL setup. When you all changed the HU to the pioneer, it it keep all the factory controls. Like the the Birds Eye view, they dynamic reverse turning layout, and the SOS??

The factory controls are retained by programming the maestro device. This is what retains the factory controls and in my case with a 2017 all controls operate fine.
I would head over to the Maestro site and verify your year.

I think the only thing you really lose is the MPG graph.

But you gain carplay music info in the small cluster screen. I don't care about MPG graphs.

My HU took a dump recently at 9 months.

I reached out to Pioneer and they had me fill out a form online and I had to ship the box at my expense to have repaired under warranty. The funny thing is the repair center is 2 miles from my work and they wouldn't accept me dropping it off. I thought about just dropping it off, but I figured $10 for USPS was insurance. Once received it took about 8 days before I got it back. The paperwork said CXY5428 was replaced. Based on a Google search that part is described as a "media unit" and runs around $400 and is typically out of stock on retail websites.

    Hopefully I don't experience any more issues. I'm a little concerned considering it's a $1,300 HU

Can anyone tell me if the information display of the vehicle shows an image of a sedan or that of a truck? Or if there is a way to change that?

Do you retain the Music/nav info in the screen between the gauges with this?

You retain Music info, while I am able to see what is play, I am not able select through my music when using Android auto. Works in standard bluetooth music though.

The nav screen will be there, but it is blank for me.
