My niece left to go to work this morning and came back in 2 minutes later saying the display on her dash said her tire was low and "it's bad".

I went out to investigate and the rim is on the driveway.

I think that qualifies as "bad".

I filled it up and told her to hightail it to a tire shop. In the mile and a half, it dropped from 36 to 28psi.

They spent 45 minutes and couldn't get one of the lug nuts off, gave her a quote for $800 to fix... something... and didn't even plug the tire.

It's back in my garage now. Guess I know what I'll be attempting tonight.

I really like my job but I like to stay sharp and go through the process of job hunting from time to time just to stay on top of my game. I applied a few weeks back for a dream job, or so I thought. Solid company, program, I've directly supported them before..its a big ask from them as they would be asking me to basically scrub myself from the internet...

Their Hr came back within a week asking if I would have trouble getting clearance and what would be my salary expectation, I shot for the moon because I can..they came back with a respectable number but its too close to a lateral move. I'm standing my ground, they're gonna have to get crazy to get me away from this job. Grass isn't always greener...
I had to get that out there, writing the please take me out of consideration email was so tough...

The closest tire repair shop to my house.

She asked if she should go to the Jeep dealership in town. I not so subtly said no. If I can't get it cracked loose, she will need it taken care of and I have a few places in town we'll hit up.

Buy replacement lug nuts then get the big Ugga Dugga with one of those easy outs. Toss mangled lug, profit.

My dad had an old impact but I can't remember if I stole it from him when he moved or not so I might be going shopping for the ugga duggas!

I am real curious why the lug nuts could not be broke loose.

A young lady being taken advantage of being up sold to a very expensive repair.

I bet they break loose with the on board tire tools.

That seems to maybe happen to people you know all to often.

Buy whatever flavor cordless tool you like. I have the Ryobi one that's like 1300 ft/lbs and has 3 modes. I think it was in the realm of $300 or less without battery (already have batteries). Best dang thing I've bought. Makes short work of everything with 6pt impact sockets. Also went to HF and got some wobble extensions, a flex adapter and some shorty impact sockets. Super nice! Made taking off my drive shaft a breeze when I rebuilt it.

If I do need to buy an impact, for as often as I'd use it, I'll just HF a corded one.

So I use the Kobalt brushless 24V tools. I used to use Porter Cable but they sort of didn't make a good transition to cordless. My point? I just picked up a Kobalt 1/2" 24v impact for $54 at Lowes. No battery but I have four batteries. I buy DeWalt corded tools and Kobalt cordless tools. Had pretty good luck. A few have been picked up 2nd hand.

So, in my Odyssey vs Tacoma documentary, did everyone agree? Any surprises? Or could I have just said "The van is nice but no soul" and everyone would have understood haha.

I think we all basically agree. The Odyssey is the pinnacle of practicality, the unbridled king of usability etc...if its reliable, comfy and safe for my family I'm down with it. I don't need it to turn heads in the school pickup line, I just need it to start every time momma says we need tylenol or whatever from Cvs. The ground clearance matters more than I ever thought it would. I thought I had dialed it all in when we got our Mdx, bulletproof n/a honda 3
.5 liter, 7 seats, available awd, a transmission that isnt "continuously variable" but my wife is 5'1 and picking babies up and down beats her up. Vans sit much lower, so thats a big reason we're considering them.
