I only said that because the service advisor at the Dealership told me their batteries were from Interstate when they changed mine. I later learned from this thread that Interstate does not actually make batteries.
Also, @Spazum888 works for Interstate. So he would know better to advice.

So don't buy the OEM as a replacement?

UPDATE: My original alternator failed in December 2021 not long after 140K miles, and damaged the AAA battery without me knowing it; I only found this out when my truck would struggle to start after sitting for several hours or overnight. One of the few things not covered by the AAA warranty was discharge due a failed alternator, so I bought an Optima Yellow Top in January 2022 if I remember correctly. In August 2022, the replacement alternator that I bought from AutoZone failed. Fortunately, it didn't fail in the same epic manner as the original alternator. Honestly, the only reason I went with an AutoZone alternator was because it was a weekend and I needed the truck; I had never undertaken an alternator replacement before, so I paid my buddy who used to be a mechanic to come to my house and put it in. The same dealer that did my frame replacement wanted like $550 or $650 for a remanufactured alternator, and the Autozone was $250. When the new one started showing signs of failure in August 2022. Having learned my lesson, I bought a Denso alternator through my mechanic for not much more than the AutoZone alternator, and had him install it. While waiting for the new alternator, I hooked my truck up to a battery tender to keep my Optima from getting nuked, and it worked!

I had the same concerns, and was also tired of constantly cleaning corrosion off the posts.

Replaced with a $140 AGM and no issues in the past 4 years.

$550-650 installed? Hope so as I believe mine was $300-325 for the alternator and I DIY'd it at my parents' house.

I have no idea if that was the installed price, but this is the same dealership that wants over $1,000 for a damn HVAC control module...

I'd hope so re installed. Mine was spring 2023. Took about 2.5 hours but that's factoring in bullshitting with my dad whilst doing so.

I just checked mine, since it’s been a while…. April of 2020. I picked it up from Batteries Plus, it’s a Duracell. At the time, I remember Walmart and Costco having their brands (which are manufactured by reputable brands) for around $120 but were out of stock. Looks like they are Everlast and Interstate.

The $300 AGM’s are the brands like Optima, as much as the masses of TW would hate to admit - overkill for most applications.

The OEM Panasonic battery on my old 2004 4Runner lasted 10 years with 180k miles. Only replaced it because I got a screaming deal on a Sears Diehard Plat (re-badged Odyssey AGM) for $80. It still ran another 2 years after I gave it to a friend.

I was told by the dealership that battery was only available in Japan and the vehicles built in Japan.

Idk why there is so much stressing about car batteries.
