If the tire is not losing air, the bolt may have not gone all the way through. Remove slowly but be prepared to plug it as needed.

I’m going to go mess with it as soon as It cools down a bit. I did check the air pressure when I got home but looks like Firestone added air when they were trying to program the TMPS sensors, had them at 35 now they are close to 40

I've been successfully plugging tires for 5 decades. Having said that, the proper advice (in this day and age) is OP should take it to a tire shop and have them professionally patch it.

Forgive me, as I have sinned in the plugging world.

I had a set of soft Azenis on my autox ride, and one of them had 2 rope plugs in it, one of them on the edge of the tread. And I both raced and did highway miles with them. Lots of both. And lots of other tires on other cars plugged just fine.

And when they had about 20% life left, a drifter bought the whole set, knowing of the plugs which I had highlighted in yellow chalk.

But I only take responsibility for myself, so this is offered as anecdotal evidence only. The reader should follow all best practice recommendations from their local tire professional as to repair technique.

And those of you talking about 'monitoring pressure'. Isn't that what that spiffy TPMS we are all saddled with supposed to do for us? :D

I’ve also had plugs in tires for a long time and they never gave me problems either, BUT since the truck and tires are new I will take it in for a patch.
As as far as my TMPS goes , I swapped my tires/wheels on day two of owning the truck and the aftermarket ones haven’t worked since, no dash light but no pressure reading either

If it's holding air drive it to a tire shop and get it fixed right. If the tire is flat, plug it, air it up and drive it to a tire store and get it fixed right.

I had to stuff 3 ropes in a big nail hole, took like 2 hours to get it to hold…
Limped it to a tire shop the next day for a patch

Nail but it sliced as it went in so it made a round hole and a slash. Basically a hole shaped like a lollipop

Last night I plugged a tire on daughter’s Corolla. Tire had a half inch screw. Her tires have about 15% left on tire wear, so, I will leave the plug in through the summer before replacing the tires.

BFG All Terrain TA is included... What else are you going to do until you get back to a tire shop, and have no more spares? Plug the hole... use as many as you need to!

Pretty close to the edge ain't it?
Around-town driving would make it but I'd advise her to keep it under 45mph lest something bad happen.

Funny enough, I've picked up multiple railroad spikes over the years out on the historic transcontinental railroad grade in the west desert of Utah, the worst of which took 16 plugs to hold air, but it held for another 18ish months.
