I off-road enough that having a factory locker and off-road goodies makes it worth it for me.

    It's good we have options

It is. Toyota could dial it back on the useless bullshit though and offer something more barebones.

There are times I could use a locker, they should offer that à la carte like Ford does, however to get it from Toyota have buy a bunch horseshit nonsense options I don’t want or need.

At least with my OR, there was not a lot of BS. Tow package and OR goodies, that was it. I am afraid it will not be that way on the 4th gen, but maybe wrong. My 3rd gen does not have anything, other then the STUPID ASS wireless power spot, that I have not used. I Try and get as bare bones as I can, while still getting the off road goodies.

For me, it comes down to how much a manual SR double cab 4x4 costs vs a manual double cab OR. If the SR is like $5k less I’d deff go with it but if it’s only like $2-$3k less it would be dumb not to get the OR. Watch Toyota be bastards and price it like $4k less… lol

The only thing I dislike about the SR is it's lack of cooling capabilities over the the other engines. I can't recall what is missing oil cooler, additional intercooler. If the the higher output engines need it, I would thing the SR engine would benefit from the added engine cooling.

That might change later down the line. 1. Toyota will probably realize they HO cooling system is needed on all 2.4t trucks. 2. Toyota just throws it on all 2.4t engines. Once the base price goes up high enough for the added cooling to cover the cost, or Toyota can charge more for that additional hardware to pump the price. Either way, I think that version of the 2.4t will show up under the hood of the SR. I'm waiting for that to happen.

It is a $4200 upcharge from the AC SR V6 4WD to the AC OR V6 4WD…too much just to get a locker. While Ford you can add it to a base XL for $430.

Still cheaper to get the SR and toss in an ARB, have enough left over for a set of wheels and tires. As stock Wranglers are kind of a joke. OR suspension is worthless too, that is going to be ripped out anyways. Might as well start with a SR.

Dunno, the auto LSD works well enough for me decided not to do a locker in my 3rd Gen.

I will say those pics of the 4th gen are the best yet, still on fence. The new GX though is def the wife’s next ride. Toyota nailed it and the LC.

Overland Expo in Colorado. I checked out the Taco as much as I could. Doors were locked. It’s alright and I’m sure it will grow on me eventually but that LC was amazing up close. Couldn’t get near it as they had the ribbon barrier but dayum, it was nice.

Used to have an FJ60 and an FJ80 and I loved them. This brings me back full throttle.

I think XC in that avalanche color that's on the roof of the 250 would look good, I think Toyota calls it Crater Dandruff or something. I like the lines of the LC over the Tacoma. If Toyota would build a 2dr pick up version of the LC 250 I would be all in.

    hi,
i sold my jeep wrangler and was thinking getting gladiator 2024.....but now im torn between gladi and 2024 tacoma trd pro. Anyway im thinking getting a tacomo trd pro now and was looking on getting portals to fit 37 inch tires. The trd pro comes with the fox shocks, is there better fox shocks out there? this is my present to myself from retiring from the army:)

If you’re planning on pulling tires/suspension and modding stuff to fit 37s right off the rip why would you get a pro? At most go with the TRD off-road and don’t spend 10 extra grand to then spend 10 extra grand lol

You want a 24 Pro that isn't available yet, and you want to add portal axels that probably aren't available yet? Just get a F-150 Raptor and call it a day.
