Got an 02 Taco that came with what appears to be an aftermarket alarm/remote entry setup.

    Remote pic below.

One of the key fobs mysteriously showed up in the bottom of the washing machine one day. It kinda no longer worked correctly. So tried to add the spare I had. No luck.

    Tried "rewrite"mode. Still not accepted.

Opened it up and saw some corrosion on the chip legs so, ordered same item on eBay. Tried to add it but same problem.

I'm not sure if I have the correct instructions as, at step 9 the locks no NOT cycle at all.

The instruction I use are attached.

    Are there correct instructions somewhere?

Gotta remember to empty those pockets before things go in the laundry.

Problems with the truck side unit if your following instructions for the unit you have.

in rare cases I have seen interference not allow connections with the remotes.

    Frequencies all the same ??

    The FCC id is identical.

I found another set of instructions that do nor require the door dance, only the "valet" button. It does all the right chirps when getting ready.

I can get it to accept the first fob, no matter which one I choose, but the second will not. It is supposed to "chirp" once for each fob, but chirps twice for the second one each time I try the programming sequence. The first fob works OK.

It used to work with two fobs but would not accept a third. Makes me wonder if it is "almost full" and not erasing all the old ones?

I really do not know what the truck side unit is. Imagine that must make a difference, but most of the instructions claim they are "universal" for that FCC ID. Seems far fetched to me.

Really don't want to go diving under the dash/whatever to find the model.

Know it is after market., think it was a dealer install, if that helps any.

I remember a Dealer installed option form Mid South Toyota there were schematics floating around.

Dealer options are never in the Electrical Wiring Diagrams.

It would be very easy to locate behind the left trim panel or to the left of the steering column .

Even vehicles with remotes I never used them.

Following the second set of instructions, I found this works and now have 3 fobs active.

Leaving driver door OPEN (!), insert key and turn from acc to "on" twice and leave on. should chirp. I had been doing this with the driver door closed. I think going from "lock" to "on" does not work.

Press Valet button and hold for 5 seconds, should chirp several(3 ?) times. Several any way.

Within several seconds press key fob main button, it should chirp once, follow with second, get a chirp, third, get a chirp etc. (dunno how many, maybe 4),

Pretty much it. Turn key off.

Did some "odd stuff" lock activations and a chirp, or two, but once I removed key, closed door and tested each fob, they worked.

Now, if I could only figure out how to disable the alarm, I'd be happy. Somewhere along the line I put it in "active" mode. Have know wildlife to nose around and set it off, middle of night. Not many neighbors out this way, but, no need to annoy them.

Glad you were able to get your remotes working.

No instructions telling you how to arm or disarm the alarm??

Does the alarm use the horn to sound or something else .

pretty simple to disable the horn the wire from the installed system should be easy to find.

Then you could break the horn circuit with a switch or just remove the fuse or relay

Got the thing into a mode where it does not alarm.

But- if I let it sit for a week, it won't start. Battery a year old maybe. Jump or charge and it starts right up. This morning, chimes, dash cam, etc came on, but, no crank. Not even a click. Battery reads 10 V. Got it on charge now.

I suspect the Alarm is still not "disabled", just in "no alarm" state, so is causing a drain. Any ideas? Other than rip it out?
