Anti-Theft reccomendation

I have no idea what those relay numbers mean. Generic relays I have never been allowed to use them.

Might be why I have never seen them.

I have never seen them used on any schematics I use.

When you park it, put it in 4low so when the idiot who steals the truck wonders why the engine is revving up so high and he's getting no where fast.
When I was in the SF and I had to stay overnight I would put the lock on the clutch pedal and transfercase in 4low.

 

Maybe you should make one and bring it to market. It could be a lucrative product.

 

I just parked my truck for a few nights up in the San Juans and nobody touched it. I didn’t make an effort to hide anything either. Maybe it’s different up in the PNW; I haven’t been there in a while.

 

30 means constant power.

87 means switched (normally closed, NC) power; it is a closed circuit only if 85 and 86 close the circuit. In other words, 87 is what typically powers your device.

85 and 86 are interchangeable. One is ground; the other is a 12V switch which requires very little amperage to close the circuit - maybe 0.2 amps.

87a is Normally Open (NO) power; it is powered when 85 and 86 leave the circuit open. In other words, if the switch is not activated then you can power some other device - something other than 87, which is not energized - using 87a.

The only logical kit, in my mind, would include the components necessary; however, it would be up to the user to configure them. You do not want every vehicle owner applying the same kill switch configuration since thieves would wisen up.

To add an additional set of anti-theft options, a quick release steering wheel would be a wonderful deterrent; however, this means no airbag, which means guaranteed paralysis in the event of a collision.

 

Dude it’s been happening all over the US. Your one trip doesn’t change the trends at popular trailheads and in parks all over the country.

I’ve personally seen broken windows at trailheads in NH, Missouri, and at Moab. Heard about more online from people in Vermont, Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Cali, and South Carolina.
