The ones that come in the Tacos aren't really leather. Ok, maybe in small patches and the rest is faux. You can always get your own leather.

They are likely purchased together often by luxury-inclined buyers, and trim level packaging reduces logistical costs(something toyota basically wrote the book on).

Excellent point. Yea steering wheel air bag saved my life (in a head on accident) but dashboard JBL speaker came loose and knocked out all my teeth.

I didn't know that leather could be a dealer option does it have the seat heaters? I wanted it the other way when I bought my 2020, I wanted a sunrooof without leather, and I was not able to do that even through the dealer.

I have a feeling the package allocation on the 4th gen is going to be very complicated especially with the Limited being the only model getting a full time 4wd system.

In 2016 - 2017 you could get heated cloth seats and a sunroof.

Heated seats are also available as a dealer add-on with or without leather.

Please tell me another car manufacturer that does a combo leather seats/sun roof upgrade together. So say roughly $2000 for faux leather seats and then roughly $2000 for sun roof. Gee $4000 give or take and you can't fricken separate the two. That my friend is not "consumer friendly". In fact it's called "take it or leave it", which will turn off many future Toyota buyers.

The best selling vehicles on the planet would say otherwise. That is exactly Toyota's MO, they tell you what you want.

You know darn well if the option to add the hood scoop would result in the following

Ironically putting options together in a package is a means to lower prices overall.

You’ve already been told in this very thread (hint: by a wise poster named Chuychanga) exactly how you can indeed separate the two and get leather without a sunroof from the dealer.

Since no one has shown me another vehicle manufacturer who forces buyers to buy both leather seats and sunroof together (not separate) we have to assume (1) Chuychanga is full of beans and (2) Toyota likes to tie accessories together to force buyers to spend, spend and spend. Bottom line - car buyers want choices. They want options. And they certainly want to buy leather seats with out bogus sun roof, or buy sun roof without bogus leather seats. Next thing you know Toyota will lump leather seats, with sun roof with hybrid engine. If you don't buy hybrid engine you can't get leather seats, nor sun roof. See the trend guys.

Well, you’ve convinced me. I’ll never buy a Toyota again.

but to answer your question: lots of manufacturers make option packages. For instance, we couldn’t get the tobacco colored leather in our Mazda without buying the HUD, sunroof, rear heated seats, etc

Over on the colorado, you can’t get beadlock wheels without ventilated memory seats, wireless phone heater charging, and a fender decal.

these are known as “options packages,” and are everywhere

And on the Ranger if you want the FX4 package it requires running boards.

Understand options packages. Understand upgraded stereo system with more speakers, etc. Understand fully retractable seats (driver/front passenger) along with front and (possibly) rear seat heating options. Understand certain paint colors will cost more along with dealer pumped under carriage special sealant package. Blah, blah, blah. Don't understand how you package leather seats with sun roof and say "oh it's only another $5000 option" but you'll love sun roof during Arizona summers with temps over 100 degrees.

Say I'm 6' 4" tall and don't want a sun roof since it reduces head (clearance) room. But man I just got rid of my kid's child seat and really want leather seats. You know those child seats leave almost permeant creases in car seats but with junior now over 80 pounds (or what ever Uncle Sam) says we can trash kids seats and I now want leather seats in my Tacoma. But no effing sun roof.

You can’t always get what you want. Toyota builds general options that group together. You are likely an outlier vs their market research.

the beadlocks on the colorado are part of an $11,000 option package. Everyone does this.

You are certainly speaking for yourself. I certainly want all that shit and then some. Numbers certainly show buyers certainly want so, too. I certainly see the trend. Again, you can bring your own leather to your sunroof-less truck. This is not hard.
