What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

This is mine driving to work and averaged out per tank at the pump average is 21-22 mpg. Driving home I have more traffic and I’m usually 19-21.

 

This is with a V6? AT I assume? What PSI are you running?

I was getting 19mpg with the MT and 35 PSI, now that I lowered it to OEM 30 PSI, I'm lucky to break 17 on a tank, although I haven't kept track per-trip if my highway mileage is better than that.

 

Yes I have a AT V6 OR stock, running about 32psi I believe.

Just scroll down one notch on your MDM screen from the digital speedo and it will show your tank MPG. Automatically resets when you fill up. With stock tires mine has matched my own calculations every time.

I get about 19 per tank when I'm making short trips up and down the "hill" (2,000 feet) to town. If I do a lot of highway I get 21-22 mpg. 32 PSI according to the TPMS display on the MDM.

 

Touche. As we speak my tank avg is 19 also. I'm coming off of 2 tanks of 87 (that I thought I'd try, which undoubtedly gave worse mileage for me) so let me check on the next tank(s), again. I always run 91 normally.

I've used this one for 3 years now and it does an awesome job. Very similar to the Viair 400 at a 1/3rd of the price. almost identical design.

Also fits in the cubby behind the rear seat.

Edit: I don't have rear seats so I don't know if the seat could actually latch

 

Mod #2.... hurricane be damned! Not the best but, I like that the hold downs fit in the tie down tracks and, the cross members are bowed up.

 

Added RSI Smartcap EVOa, Total Chaos bed stiffeners and A/C drain mod. Still waiting on the RCI Rocksliders. I am noticing the weight. I'm interested on how bad a hit my MPG took.
Also got the aluminum table. Never know when you'll need a table.

Towed my buddy’s Harley home after he sheared a bolt holding his front fork on the way to work. He got sprayed with shock oil pretty good too

 

Installed the Rav4 knobs on the radio. Soooo much better.

Ordered from McGeorge Toyota (Richmond, VA) (Yeah, I already installed the knobs. Photo for part number reference.)




Same shaft size. Pop out the black insert from the back side of the Rav4 knob. EZ-PZ.




Before: Knobs made for pre-schoolers.




After: Rav4 knobs - no longer drift off the side of the road while trying to adjust the volume.

 

Nice! Just ordered the same today from Manhattan Beach Toyota via eBay. Happy to get rid of the puny knobs.

 

Got around to doing a thorough wash / scrub down of the bed. I can basically eat off my bed mat now... This will last a solid 5 minutes at least.

I remember looking at that one, went with Harbor Freight because of warranty etc.

Cheap isn’t necessarily bad, mine has done probably 10 air ups and hasn’t faultered. It does get hot if ambient temp is like 100’

 

Opinions wanted.

What happened to my coolant? I was expecting to see pink under the cap. Is there a serious issue, possibly? Which fluid shall I perform the flush with? 53k miles, bought December 2019.

I actually like yours better but I was lazy and on Amazon one night and the price was right so went with it. I think they all get hot though not a big deal to me but we need to let them cool off before they go behind the seat I would imagine
