Rubbing with 33” tires and 3” lift

    Hey guys, I need some help. I have a 2015 OR with a Toytec 3” lift and Wildpeak 285 75R16 tires.

    There is no rubbing while on road driving, but full lock and hitting a bump I rub. When taking it off road I rub too.

    I have no idea where I’m rubbing though so I’m hesitant to cut anything off because I’m afraid of making costly mistakes.

    How can I tell where I’m rubbing so I can cut that part off?

    This might be a stupid obvious answer that you have probably tried but bring a buddy with you on the trail and have them look at the wheel well while you’re rubbing?

    285’s. I think a Cab mount chop, or you will rub 1000%

    Can mount, pinch weld. Next time take a bag of flour with you and dab all over the fender well area frame etc, you’ll see where you’re rubbing.

    Oh right. That’s what I’m missing, I have no buddies. :/
    is the cab mount a DIY only or would an off road ship offer this service?

    You can absolutely cut the cab mounts yourself, even if you can't weld. All you need is an angle grinder. You don't need to weld plates over it immediately after you cut them, you can take it to a shop later for that, but I do recommend you eventually take it somewhere to have them throw plates on as they will just funnel dirt and water into your frame. Ask me how I know.

    Here is where i cut mine for 285s, bone stock suspension, no lift, for reference.

    3" toytec lift 285/75/17" tires
    I have same tire size 3.5 lift. My tire hits the frame, UCA'S. U will definitely see the rub wear, look for shiny bare metal. And I believe 285 is tire width, 75 is the height.

    No, I am not. I am afraid I would make things worse. I reached out to a trusted off road shop and they said it would probably take about 6 hours labor. Does that sound like a fair amount of time to do the work? Someone else said it should take an hour? That doesn’t seem like a long enough time at all to do that work.

    On a lift at a shop it should take no more than an hour, maaaaybe 2 if they're doing the pinch weld. 6 is insane. I did mine in less than that in my gravel driveway with zero experience

    They are talking about moving all of the inside fender and making it look like they were never there including painting the frame and putting plastics back to looking factory.
