Probably one of the better EV that will be available, It's as versatile as a regular sprinter. Having never owned a Sprinter myself, I'd get a diesel and if I liked the van then I would consider the electric version.

That's why I prefer gas vehicles cheaper to buy less time to fuel.

And last longer. EVs today have a short shelf life. Like a giant disposable 80k dollar camera lol batt pack won't last a decade

Completely false. At least use facts to support your dislike of EVs. There’s plenty of downsides based in facts and personal use requirements that you don’t need to resort to outright lies.

So you got your EV and you're just smug as a bug in a rug! The high priests of the EV religion smile down upon you from their private jets. Life is good, then your battery fizzes out. Well you don't have an extra 26k lying around so you park the EV out of the way while you save up for the new battery. A year passes and still no 26k for a new battery so you try to sell it buuuuut nobody wants it because the battery is dead and now mice and spiders are living in it.

Unlike that cool toy RC car you threw away when it stopped taking a charge, you can't just throw this dead toy away.
It's too big and too toxic. Now you're going to have to pay someone to take it away.

Bigger toys mean bigger problems when they break.

Go ahead and start living the Green New Deal "heaven". Stop using any form of plastic. Do not use any EV vehicle that has batteries with components that were shipped through 10 countries using diesel-powered ships. Stop using any electricity from coal-powered plants. ALL BEFORE we have fusion-powered generators gifted us from the USS Enterprise.

Stop "guilting" the people who want the fusion generators to exist now but recognize that changes will come in baby-steps that allow life to continue. That approach worked in the transition from oil-lamps to electrical grids, from horse-drawn wagons to cars.

By the way ... look into hexaflouride (SF6) which is chemical shockingly more hazardous than CO2 that leaks out of wind turbine plants. I am sure that someone will find a replacement for that compound in wind turbines eventually, but it is not possible now.

Good point. I’ve never seen a broken down car parked in a yard before, this is definitely going to be a problem.

Did this guy get his Tacoma yet? There needs to be a follow up report. 4th gen isn't been revealed and the new Colorado isn't at dealerships yet, Rivian is circling the bowl. The automotive media has plenty of time to get the scoop.

I waved a Rivian out onto the road in front of me, the other day.
    He didn't wave thanks.....that figures.
Following him into town, I wasn't impressed at all.

Just an update a rivian owner told me nice truck out in Montauk last weekend. And to touch on the EV topic as a firefighter I've unfortunately seen EV bikes and cars kill more people then do good. Last I checked death is bad and making the world a better place isn't really that hard it starts with changing yourself because that's the only thing you can control in life.

You mean you cant just Buy an EV and be a better person collecting the environmental feels? How unfortunate for all the EV owners.

Someone brought this up regarding EV’s recently and I thought it was worth repeating:

The gas we purchase includes a road tax supposedly used to maintain our highways. Currently, electricity does not.

At some point, if EV’s become increasingly popular, it would make sense that an “electricity tax” be created to replace the lost revenue from the taxes on gas sales. Regardless of the vehicle motor, highways need to be maintained.

Just curious as to when this new tax will be created (kind of surprising it hasn’t yet been) and, when created, how it will effect the “cost per mile” comparison with ICE vehicles.

An aside: Container ships use do not use the 'diesel fuel' used in autos and such, but rather 'heavy fuel oil', https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_fuel_oil which is actually far dirtier than diesel. It is essentially the sulfur-rich sludge left behind after the diesel and the other higher grade fuels have been refined from crude oil.
Although, this is also a thing (a "hybrid" cargo ship with 2 rigid sails providing several additional wind-powered knots/hour when deployed):

It's onwards to the past, folks!
