    Gonna have to follow the wires and see what module it's connected to. Could be an alarm (status indicator light, whether or not it's armed), could be a remote start.. I don't think it's a trailer brake controller those usually have more stuff.

    Edit, and yes- if it turns out to be an alarm, and you want to get a new remote and pair it, you just have to figure out the manufacturer and get a fob for it. That being said, cross your fingers that they still support the product. I have an aftermarket alarm/keyless that I had installed right after I got the truck (22 years ago) that I can't get replacement parts off. It's on the chopping block once I get the time.
