What spec would you go for? It looks like the single motor without AWD will be 60k and will only tow 7000 pounds and only have a 250 mile range. You will have to shell out 70k for the dual motor and AWD that can tow 10k. The tri motor will be 80k or more. That’s not a great value proposition considering the capability you can get these days for 60k.

Let me guess you didn’t read the articles? Not like they literally replaced thousands of frames or anything.

I was heading to Maine last weekend and was driving next to a Lightning towing a big ass camper. I wonder how often he had to stop and charge. Meanwhile I got a mind blowing 15 mpg in my Tacoma because I had a kids kayak and two mountain bikes strapped to it.

Of course not. I’m not actually buying a cyber truck. Are you crazy?

Well maybe you should give them a read regardless because you did say you would buy one over a Toyota if the price is reasonable. Weird stance to take and then do nothing to learn about it haha. If anything you’ll learn something.

The value proposition for me would include operating costs. I won’t buy it anyway because it looks stupid, but the lowest spec would be fine for the super manly truck things that aren’t real man truck things that I do, provided the range is there

Trucks need to perform a lot of different task, better to shoot a little higher to suit more people’s needs/wants than to make it too specialized. Granted many people who buy trucks these days do it more for image than actual use. Just look at the Tacoma.

I’ve read plenty of motor trend articles. That’s where the article I posted that started this Cyber Truck discussion came from. :D

    Often! Is my bet.

Tacoma gets terrible mileage for what it is. Generally average 20 loaded down pulling a moto trailer on my trips, do have a topper and the trailer is open so it is relatively aero for a brick. While mountainous out here, we do have long stretches flat road between them. Any mpgs lost going up is gained coming back. Always carry Jerry cans too since I like to push it out when I stop, can literally refuel out in the middle of nowhere, can’t do that with an EV.

Why? We are discussing whether the cyber truck suits the needs of people who buy it, and we have to make it clear that most buyers are beneath those of us who buy trucks because we need them for the super manly truck things we do. Others just buy for the image and Starbucks and the mall and *insert other tired old nonsense*

Hopefully some BEVs will come to market that can give us that value proposition and look good. Mark ups on the lightning are killing it. 50k on paper and you get dual motors and 320 mile range, sounds good if you could actually buy at that price. Sounds like their battery tech also needs work.

This poor thread is starved of substantive things to discuss. I cant wait until we are reading the first member-based reviews of the 4G in... January! :(
