You don't need the headlight to aim the laser at in order to get a reading.

You would most likely need to mount them over the MESO plate or cut a large portion of the plate to fit them.
I've seen a few different trim plates with LEDS and wiring for DRL so it is possible to get some stuff back there but not much.
Some of the aftermarket plates have more space than others. MESO having the least amount of space behind the plate due to the mold.

I prefer having a radar just for another form of alert.
It's not for the avoiding tickets but for all the hard braking and sporadic merging from other drivers when they see the cops.
I've seen speed traps cause rear end accidents. I've also had a ping alert me to multiple officers attending an accident on a blind curve.
The more information I have available to me about the road and truck, the better. It's a nice heads up.
Integrate it with your head unit and it's just another driver assistance tech bonus.

IMO you should get a radar without jammers and save the speeding for the track.

What do you mean “no”? Are you saying you always do exactly the speed limit? If so then good for you! Because even a ticket for 8 miles over can cost you over $1000 in insurance payments and the fine (at least in Louisiana where we have highest insurance rates in the country) so one ticket saved pays for this system.

that’s why a good laser jammer has an emergency switch to turn it into parking sensor mode - plausible deniability my friend

Effing A man, I'm focused on getting my transmission to stop hunting and you're going next level with the fuzz busting. My compliments. Drive it like you stole it.

If I may, I would suggest looking into radiation absorbent materials. We cannot have your Taco reflecting RF from as many incident directions as possible so you may consider mounting pyramid shaped pieces from a suitable "RF loss" type material. Electronically isolated iron ball paint absorbing material worked well on the first generation of stealth fighters in the US inventory I am told. Neoprene polymer sheets with ferrite grains or conductive carbon black particles (containing about 0.30% of crystalline graphite by cured weight) embedded in the polymer matrix has also proved fruitful.

Holler when you are about to take your Tacoma to the EMC test chamber. I can give you a few questions to ask the techs so you can evaluate if they are chuckleheads or not.

Edit: a more cost-effective way to avoid tickets may be to invest in breast enhancement for your significant other. There is a perfect positive correlation between breast size and traffic violation warnings.

I've been wondering for years. Would running a shiny pin wheel in front of your grill also achieve similar results against LIDAR? The beam is supposed to be about 2-3 feet wide at a quarter mile. At highway speeds it's turning hundreds of RPM scattering and reflecting all light. It must mess with the doppler effect to some level. And nobody's going to point to it and say "that's illegal".

I go over/under but keep it close. Always have.
I'm 60 so my insurance is dirt cheap on my Tacoma. But keep driving your way for sure! Maybe fight fire with fire and scab a couple of laser pointers on your headlights. I bet they would be so distracted they wouldn't even know how fast you are going!

The internet never ceases to amaze me. Not sure where you get that officers most often target headlights with lasers, or even that lasers are used all that often. Much cheaper to just follow the law, in more ways than one.

Again, not sure where that information comes from considering LIDAR just needs a surface (not necessarily a shiny one) to reflect from. It's how Face ID works in the iPhone.

Everywhere I’ve been seems to be complete lawlessness. No insurance, expired plates, no plates at all,,,,, I haven’t heard of anyone I know getting a speeding ticket in many years, but I’m Pooh-pops in the right lane doing a meager 5 over.
