Depends on the car and owner. Some cars get labeled that way when really are fixable and worth it too.

 

I'm driving two rebuilt titled cars. Both Toyotas, and I sold another not long ago after driving it for a couple years subsequent to repair. Love both (well, all three) of them... especially knowing I paid less than half the values assigned to clear titled vehicles and am getting the same service from them. I've had the Corolla for ten years and have only put tires on it since it was repaired, and the Taco is about 30K miles from being fixed and no issues so far (knock on wood).

 

I bought a 1988 4-Runner back in 1994. Upon signing the paperwork I noticed it was a salvaged title. I brought it to their attention, they should have informed me. They were basically saying if you don’t want it walk away. They gave me zero discount. I was a young guy and was in love with this black beautiful 4-Runner which was loaded and perfect in every way so I bought it.

Fast forward two years. This is how good Toyota is. It was the V6 motor and I had a head gasket go out. Come to find out they had a recall on the head gasket on those motors Toyota gave me a brand new motor from the heads down. I was the last one at my dealership that they did that for. Everybody after me just got a resurfaced block and heads. So here I have a used salvaged title vehicle and Toyota honored the recall with a new motor. So yeah, in this case it was worth purchasing a salvaged title vehicle for normal blue book. It definitely sold me on Toyota.
