@Kwikvette have you flown the F-22 Raptor yet in the simulator? saw this guy's video and it looks like you can use all the thrust vectoring features it has to do crazy ass maneuvers, I really need to play this now

I don't think I even bothered to buy/unlock it?

I fly the F/A-18 though, but yeah even though many play MSFS as a game, you can disable many of the auto features and go full manual on everything like you would in a real aircraft.

 

Aww you have to buy the planes you want to fly? Here I was hoping I'd have a hangar full of SR71s, F22s, Concordes and XB-70s at the ready lol.

I wonder if they have the XB-70 since it never went into production beyond prototype, that would be fun to simulate

Yeah I remember it being $5 for the old one. It will be interesting if anyone is able to conclusively say that the new one makes more power than the 2nd gen. It still seems to have a lot of the same concessions so significant increase in performance seems unlikely.

Wait, people don't fly it in full manual/sim mode?

Sometimes there are sales in the market place where planes are very discounted or even free. How I got the Ford. I'm always surprised how many airport upgrades there are, must be a market for them but I guess I'm not their target. I bought one back country spot just because it made it more interesting than a dirt strip.

Yeah too much work to play real-pilot, that's something to learn-as-I-play later. Why rush when it's fun?! Jumped into the F/A-18 just now to fuck around and show @eon_blue some quick footage

But yeah agree on only getting stuff on sale, I got a few things free with the Cessna soundtrack being the only paid for item

I'm betting the airports are for the whole realism aspect, that and maybe more contracts like you had mentioned before?

 

Yeah mixture is a fun one to learn, but I hear you. You can turn off the G-suit effects. Pull too many Gs and you'll get tunnel vision and the screen will go black....

I guess there are those that want things super realistic so when they fly to sea tac it's perfect. For casual players like me, what is standard in the game is just fine. I fly into a lot of small airports and you can see that their building and hanger models aren't accurate at all but I don't need to spend $5 to make it right.

Have you found any interesting airports to land at yet?

Mixture, starter set, ignition, etc are all things I want to learn next (partial preflight checklist shit) with the many toggles and switches I've got.

I did not know that about limiting the G force though, holy shit blurred vision and blackouts? No wonder people love playing this in VR...might have to yank out my Oculus

I've just enjoyed flying out of new airports, moreso to explore new scenery and whatnot.
