Hey all - I have been in the Toyota family since 2016 when we bought a 4runner for my wife.
I have always been a VW/Audi guy and just got tired of the anxiousness of driving an Audi (always worried what was going to go wrong next).

Just a week ago, I bought a 2016 Tacoma TRD off road in Blazing Blue Metallic. So anyway, I am here and learning a lot.

    Thanks

Just have to worry about tailgate theft, gas door hinges and clear coat/paint failure

    welcome!

My 05 has 218k with the only real maintenance being oil, brakes and tires, and spark plugs

coolant was changed when Toyota replaced the frame for free

Good choice. I am at 128K with only basic maintenance, fluid intervals, tires, shocks, and recalls. See if yours is eligible for the tail light and A/C fan recalls. I did those although they never presented problems.

    Thanks everyone!

Yeah, I am excited to only focus on this truck taking me to cool places and not worry about being stranded. My SQ5 was super cool and had a lot of awesome features but piece of mind goes a long way.

Now I am focused on some mild upgrades.

Welcome! I came from a lot of VW, Audi, and BMW ownership. With those cars they were amazing but started to get scary with 80k+ miles. The Tacoma is totally different but a lot of fun.

The car care nut (linked above) has a good series about the Tacoma. Don’t take him too seriously about what years to buy, the 16 and 17 are still great. It is informative though.
