I'm looking at purchasing a lift with Bilstein 6112 set at 2.0" up front and 5100s with the ICON add-a-leaf in the rear. The only thing I have yet to figure out is if I should get the rears that do 0-1.5" or the 2-4". I believe I should do the 0-1.5" as the AAL is also listed for 1.5". I'm really just unsure what these measurements are referring to so any help would be appreciated.

5100's can handle the add a leaf, they are generally good up to 2" of rear lift, 5125's if you are in the 2-4" range of lift instead.

As @JFriday1 said, the standard 5100s out back can handle the lift height from the AAL.

Also, not sure if you're dead set on picking up gear somewhere specific yet, but we have some sales for Labor Day going on over here at Hotshot Offroad! We'd be happy to get you set up, and can answer any questions you may have. Give me a ring! 406-936-0206

I just found this thread and the set up you are thinking of going with, is pretty much where all my research has led me to for what I want to with mine. Would love to hear what you go with and if you tweak anything that you end up doing. @memario1214 if you wouldn’t mind messaging me or pointing me in the right direction in terms of pricing and maybe a little advice, that would me awesome and much appreciated.

    That's a nice lift kit.
The only thing I did different was a rear lift block instead of aal. My stock leaf pack isn't that bad so I went with blocks until I decide to just swap entire pack with Icon RXT. RXT's give options.

After looking further into it and talking with some other people, I think I’m going to opt to spend a little more and go with 5160s in the rear, but planning to keep everything else the same.

Only thing I’m debating over now is what UCAs to get.

SPC UCAs have a lot of adjustment. I have 2.8" of lift up front with 33" tires. No rubbing

Sure! I can shoot you a message!
    We'll be here!
I can get on board with this idea for sure. If someone doesn't have any weight requirements for the rear, and aren't looking for a ton of rear lift, a block is a perfectly acceptable option.
Stepping up to the 5160s is an excellent choice! You'll have the travel that you were looking for + that additional oil capacity and revised valving as a result.
We're fans of SPCs over here

I'm gonna be that guy and say avoid rear 5100s. Mine both blew 3 months apart before the 2-warranty period and Billstein made it a nightmare to try and get them warrantied.

I was a Bilstein guy all my life until this BS. They used to be such a good company to deal with.

Spc's are great if you like replacing them every year. Mine made it 8k before the x axis joints had so much slop you could see it without jacking up the truck and the ball joint had excessive play at that point asewell. In their defense the warranty was easy got new arms but as I was only one of many having issues with the arms I sold them and went with dirt king and havnt looked back. Oe style ball joint for easy replacement if you damage one I was still able to clear my 285's without a chop set at 2.25" and the truck gets flexed. Other options are Accutune and dobinsons for adjustable uca's. Seems to be the direction alot of people are going out here to get away from spc

I'm not sure how recently you had to deal with them, but I can completely agree. Dealing with Bilstein directly for warranty can be a pain. That said, the recently changed their model with distributors where they give us the benefit of the doubt and we just replace the shock, and send in a bevy of pictures. The days when we had to send in shocks for them to get serviced/evaluated was wild.

This is certainly one of those situations where your mileage may vary. I've personally run SPC for approx 10 years across 2 vehicles that get a decent amount of "life" thrown at them, and replaced one ball joint in that time. Additionally, I have not experienced slop in the bushings on my own or any customer vehicles. I'm not going to pretend that I have never heard of people having issues, because I certainly have seen it here on the forum. That said, we've had good luck here with them :notsure:.

We do have customers who don't want or need the full adjustability of SPCs or have heard/experienced things such as your own. If budget is of concern we'll usually try to get them into something like the Dirt King tubulars or Bilstein UCAs for a set it and forget it option. We used to promote Icon tubulars quite a bit, but I am starting to lose faith in their UCA bushings as they are dang hard to keep quiet. Still up in the air on that one. If the adjustability is still desired and budget is a little more flexible then of course the Heim options from DK, Camburg, Accu, etc are awesome.

Hey! Did you buy this as a kit, or are you just buying the pieces individually?

I’m buying struts/shocks as a kit and then buy UCAs and springs separately.

Just my two cents…I’ve recently installed JBA uca’s and I’ve been impressed with build quality and warranty (on paper anyway).
