Cops were cool as shit when they saw me doing stuff on the LC like replacing my brake lines, doing my front and rear diff fluids, and other shit when it was parked in front of my house on the street.

One guy usually stops by and I shoot the shit with him often since he lives just down the road from me.

Would it be ok to remove my exhaust manifold insulation? I think it may be causing my burning smell.

Are you in an HOA? Not sure if I missed that. It's bull shit that you are being singled out.
You must have a Karen near by.

I had an HOA try that. I politely asked them to provide evidence for how it was deemed inoperable. I had evidence from my driveway cameras it hasn't been inspected by anyone, let alone a mechanic so I was curious. Funny how that disappeared pretty quick.

So this is a city thing and not an HOA thing? That blows, I know some cities in CA are adopting that where you can't have cars on jack stands for any length of time unless they're in a garage or something like that. Luckily they aren't doing that in LA county yet (that I know of).

A win for AZ I guess
Had a cop stop by when I was in the middle of swapping my tranny in the driveway - he was more incredulous that I was doing it alone and didn't say a thing about inoperability lol

I'd expect it to be a city thing; it's how it is here but they can be pretty lenient.

That Xterra I mentioned, had been sitting on the street for almost a year but it was also covered in dirt/dust all the way around. You could easily tell it hadn't been moved for awhile.

That and the plates were 5 years expired.

Yeah I've never heard of a city giving people grief over working on their stuff unless it was sitting inop in city property or you were collecting a large amount of inop vehicles.

yeah it's a thing in parts of Sacramento and I think the Bay Area right now, probably will spread out eventually but I doubt it will extend to more rural areas....people would revolt lol

But yeah as far as the street goes, that's a big reason I do like our street sweeping restrictions. Keeps people from parking a jalopy right in front of your house and leaving it there for weeks/months on end. I don't care what people do on their own property but a lot of houses around here are old and don't have driveways, so people will park their project cars on the street in front of someone else's house and leave it there. But luckily they have to move them for street sweeping every week.

Here in Missouri if you don’t have something on blocks in your yard it is considered sus.

You could always flirt with the person writing up a ticket to let you off with a warning ;)

I live on an arterial street in Spokane... so they get sweeped regularly but its also way wider than a normal city neighborhood street so the sweeper just drives around parked cars haha

Ours will too but they'll ticket ya for it, a city worker follows the street sweeper and just slaps tickets on the cars that weren't moved lol

Oh that's rough, they go through here every six months or so and remove vehicles that don't move if they're on the streets but lately people have been abusing that and towing their campers/RVs out to the street so the city will take them
