I've been trying to figure out how to "Cut the cable" because they give you less with more commercials and charge more :annoyed:.
I'm looking at different internet companies and then some apps for shows. I was thinking maybe YouTube TV but they are about $70 a month . So by the time you add internet it is almost the same as the cable price. Damned if I do Damned if I don't . After I find an internet provider I'll search for options.

A little something every chance we get.
I did several internet searches last night for internet connection. The ONLY alternative to Spectrum in this little city is AT&T, offering 5mB connections, for $59 a month! The other providers for "country folk" don't offer their expensive, bad options in the city. And we are a whopping 30 miles outside Austin. All I can do is complain to Disney.

Thankful to be free of media promoted sports interests. That's got to be frustrating.

And I like my free TV...

I don't know why communities don't sign up as a unit and negotiate a quantity discount.

Really don’t like the hunt and peck on any tv now but that’s life.
Had a choice of a fire tv and a Roku OR
A Roku tv and a Firestick.
Fire tv was a left over and got it 50% off.
Works and sounds great with tv speakers.
    Good Thing.
I knew the impedance of the speakers was going to be off some but, I didn’t know how much.
    Well, it’s off a lot.
After 25% volume it sounds like shit.
So the radio sounds like a band now lol…..
    Real happy.

Now that you have it that far you probably created more work for yourself. I can see insulation and some sheetrock or paneling of some sort in the future.

Damn, it takes me longer and longer to get up and running in the morning. Maybe I should cut it off at 2 beers and no J.D. in the evening!?

It can be done. I've never had cable tv and never will. I even went 5 years without owning a tv.

Nowadays I just view whatever is free over the air or utilize my extensive personal dvd library of movies and old tv series.

Some old favorite tv series I've acquired over the years- you fellow geezers should remember:

Green Acres (Lisa Douglas saying "hotscakes")
    The Wild Wild West
    The Twilight Zone
    Star Trek
    Mission Impossible
    Get Smart
    The Benny Hill Show
Rat Patrol (I love the scenes when they destroy an armored vehicle with an anti-personal fragmentation grenade :D)

    etc.

It’s a communist plot. I like and live for sports so I have to pay for it. This year the owner of the Utah jazz wants everyone to see the games so he is putting it on the OTA local stations around the state. I appreciate that. I still subscribe to satellite for everything like college football but pay dearly for it. I also dropped Communist Cast for internet only and went with Google fiber 1Gb. That saved my $40/month and tons better internet. Yes, I get raped on TV and internet but have to if I want to be connected like I am.

Maybe it's time to return to listening to sports on the radio. I don't find myself having the time to sit on my butt for 3+ hours watching sports.

I do listen to my sports teams on the radio when I have to travel or be somewhere without a TV. Sometimes I just have to skip games for other higher priority commitments. Also I often have friends and family over for the sports experience and so a radio doesn't cut it. Another reason to pay for satellite is the good DVR function. I can catchup on what I miss.

LOL! Big Bidness University of Texas isn't even ON the radio out of Austin anymore. I used to listen to the exciting and excitable Craig Way on the radio while watching. As long as the time delay was bearable.
And there are not many "great" radio voices on the air anymore either.
But I'm glad for you that you are hyper.
I really can't justify a $500 weekend cheap seat day, for a game I love. I wait most of the year for football, especially NCAA, and it rightfully pisses me off that a major carrier and a major provider argue that they haven't gotten enough money from me.

    Local factoids from around here;
DTV OTA signals are all miles North of Austin, out in the hill country. While they are high up for coverage there, they are already 70 miles from here. I get (sort of) ABC, NBC, sometimes CBS. NOT Fox. They got away with some weenie little 50 Watt tower that met bare minimum standard.
The best OTA antenna I have used here, on the roof, still gave the results above.
Oh, and I get some of the network affilliate "sub-channels" (-1,-2, etc).
Satellite offers here have ads continually on TV, arguing over channels and money. You are constantly wondering what you will have next week.
Streaming may be possible if I keep Spectrum internet (and up the service), but I'm not sure to save much in the long run, and trying to find "what is on" is really not enjoyable. Kind of likewatchingTVcome and go when streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaming.

I pays the money, I want my channels. Pretty standard business transaction in my mind. I've paid the asking price for what I want.
