Bump for results??? I'm anxious to see if you can pull this off OP. Definitely sounds doable. I'm a bit of a bike junkie but never been into commuting or watchin speed/times/etc. Some roadie buddies of mine talk about doing a century and maintaining 20mph, so 14 mph with locked susp, hi psi in tires and decently smooth and flat terrain sounds very possible in 1 hour and what a great way to save gas money and keep healthy.

You should be fine. 12 miles with few climbs and :rasta: usually takes less than an hour.

I've skateboarder over 5 miles in a hour. And I imagine a mountain bike would be way easier. So I say it's doable.

Ah man guys, I started installing the lift on my truck on Friday at noon (OME lift, my first time actually really working on the truck) and didn't finish it till Saturday noon, and even then I only did the front suspension, I had some great help towards the end of the day on Friday, and Saturday morning. So we just hung out and bs'ed the rest of the day, and today well I've just been too lazy to go out and don anything

Tell them to F off. I'd take a Rock Shock over a Fox any day. If you do upgrade stay away from fox. This is my professional opinion after a few years as a MTB mechanic and a lifetime as an avid rider.

And you can make it but it might be tough...

any hooo, this weekend I installed the front OME suspension w/ LR UCAs, 885s. but i had to use the stock top plate of the truck to get it assembled and since the truck had to be taken apart to do that I stuffed the stock struts into a backpack and biked it over to the auto shop about a mile away. Got the OME shocks assembled there :D. I sure looked funny with four bright a$$ yellow shocks sticking outta my backpack riding the mountainbike...

Same "setup" minus the shocks while on bike...

Lady at the auto shop front counter said "You sure are something else bringing all that stuff over on a bike"

I say to her "anything for my baby" :D

(had to make a second trip to go back home and get the OME springs :D )

definitely doable. I do a 13 mile loop on actual TRAILS in 1.5 hrs, so if it's relatively flat you'll be fine

Little update, I juuust got to school on my MB :D

The 15 mile trip (according to google maps) took exactly one hour, since it was my first time doing such a trip on my bike I'm sure I can shave off a few minutes on future trips once I get used to it.

aaaah I've been trying to copy the mapped route from google maps but it's not working.

good to hear it went alright for you you will get in shape real fast!

idk what a frontage road is but it wouldn't hurt to through some road tires on the bike for less resistance if it is just a paved road

Next to most highways there is usually a frontage road (atleast it's what I've always heard others call it too haha) it's usually a lower speed limit than the highway... definition here>>>
    http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/frontage road

:woot: just got back home, it was a 30 mile round trip. My legs feel like boiled spaghetti. haha

I would get some road tires but after today I don't think ima start taking the bike to school

I'll be biking more frequently on weekends though.

strong work junky, you should plan it 2 times a week for the workout and gas savings (weather permitting):)
