I have an airbag light on my dash that will not go away. Took it to a dealer and they diagnosed it as the spiral cable (clock spring). It's weird because my horn and cruise control still work. I ordered a new one and replaced it. Unplug the battery and the airbag light goes out for about a week! Now the airbag light is back on. Thinking about pulling the spiral cable and spraying out the connections with some cleaner. Or maybe the problem is not the spiral cable and just happened to go away for a bit by unplugging battery? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this airbag system on a 2007 tacoma? Thanks

Could it be an airbag sensor you’ll need to grab some codes but I think you’ll need a special tool for that

Dont use electrical cleaner on SRS components, it can short circuits.

Where did you get the spiral cable from? I've seen lots of cheap ones fail out of the box.

You need to get it scanned again to see if B1801 returned.

You can flash the codes out with the light.

Awesome thanks! That DTC chart should help narrow it down if I can get a scan tool to read it? Any good scan tools you reccomend

Just use a jumper wire to flash the codes out, otherwise you will need a scan tool that can read airbag system codes.

Flashing the codes seems difficult to me after reading that DTC check. Maybe it's possible that I need to clear the codes after the spiral cable install. But it was gone for a week so i figure disconnecting the battery cleared it

Oh don't get me wrong I'd much rather use a scanner but it can be done with a jumper wire.

Airbag codes are typically self clearing once the fault is cleared.
There are plenty of scan tool offerings from Autel, Launch, ThinkCar and others with prices all over the place just do your research before buying and make sure what your looking at has the functions you want.

Just ordered the AUTEL MK808s so hopefully it will pinpoint the DTC code and what is wrong.

I'm curious how the code can pinpoint the clock spring from the wiring and the airbag that are also in the circuit

yes, of the 3 parts the clock spring is the most likely to fail but the others could

Not sure but I am assuming the DTC code will tell me if its the clockspring again

It can't but we need to know what code is turning the light on in order to troubleshoot the right circuit.

That’s a lot of codes, I’d suspect an issue with connection to the main srs module under the center console.

b1801 is clock spring but 1803 is the opposite issue on the same circuit implying connection issue or maybe worse.

This won’t be an easy fix

Awesome! never easy for me haha. Maybe I will start with the main srs module and check the wiring
