    Same.

Still Ford killed the Super Cab, as Toyota the Access Cab, can’t build exactly what I want from either one, unless I step up to a half ton. Which Ford has even more choices. 4 different engines vs 1

That sounds like a scumbag move. Do they also try to give you a higher interest rate because it’s a “used” car? I can’t wait til the day that you can order all cars online and have them shipped to your house. Screw the dealerships.

Yeah it is kinda scummy. Not sure on the interest rate didn’t have to finance, I don’t buy vehicles very often went 20 years with the last one so I squirrel my pennies away.

Me too can’t stand dealers and salespeople, probably why I go 20 years between buying vehicles. And actually it is more like 30 years was the last time bought from a dealer, a used 85 4Runner that was on the back lot going to auction. All the others were private.

I ordered a BMW X5 last week exactly the way we want it. But it wasn’t cheap.

What did the Rx cost you? The X5 was $77,000. With ttl it will be 83k. Most expensive vehicle I’ve ever had.

A lot of words, but so far, I haven't been very impressed with their design philosophy with the new power plants (i.e....imploding tundra motors, just saw two more posted yesterday)

You can't, I'm telling you where they sell them .
They are special gloves used for high voltage. When it comes to electric that's really the only thing that gets worked on as far as I know, being the battery.
The point of my original post not that you even want electric as you have made that clear was that you can't work on them as you are not certified to work on batteries .

Yeah well the first year are bound to have issues , I was told the oil pumps were too small on them so a lot got changed on the newer engines . Probably less failures on the 23s and upcoming 24s

But the engineer in the video is touting how over engineered and oversized they are building the parts on the trucks and increasing the performance and durability to "commercial grade". Like I said, so far I am far from impressed, and frankly disappointed. I'm not sure how many years it will take until I trust the Tundra like I did the previous generation. I guess we will wait and see what they missed with the Tacoma powertrain and what presents the largest issue.

Pretty sure the first years of the 2nd gen tundra had issues. The first years of the 3rd gen tacoma had issues. Pretty normal in my opinion

There are issues and then there are complete engine failure due to poor design that occur randomly at various mileage. There is recent sharing on the Tundra forum of issues with the Land Cruisers with the same engine from around the world, so its not just a built in USA vs Japan engine issue it seems. Looks to be a design issue and it seems to me the oil is being diluted by fuel causing the bearing issues. A lot of the blackstone analysis I have seen has the fuel dilution at the upper end.

Like I said, I hope they figured it out with the Tacoma, but so far as far as the truck engines, they are coming up a bit short.

I wish the interviewer in the video would have asked the question "Considering the issues with the Tundra powertrain, how can we be confident the same issues will not also be present regarding this new Tacoma powertrain".

Toyota is not addressing anything yet regarding the failures, I think we are getting close to having the engine issues hit the national media to force their hand in at least coming up with a possible use case that is causing it. There have been failures on the 2023's as early as March. And since there is no rhyme when they fail, until there is a cause and a solution, any of them are subject to failure if the conditions present themselves.

This is why I don't like idea of thd SR having less cooling capabilities over the higher tuned engines. Yeah it's a detuned version that won't be running as hard, but it's the same size engine, and should only benefit from the added cooling. I think it's the same with thd lower out put Tundras.
