Makes perfect sense who is going to take their Tesla out on snow and ice covered streets? All that torque and low rolling resistance isn't going to get any traction.

Probably less than that .5m Tesla owners would consider swapping to winter tires

It's a non-problem. BEV's handle salted roads just as well as ICE vehicles. The biggest concern is rust/corrosion of the frame just like an ICE vehicle, not a failed battery induced fire. It's almost as dumb as me talking about sugar in gas tanks in relation to ICE vehicles and claiming all ICE vehicles need locking gas caps.

Speaking of dumb nonsense, only ~198 Tesla's have caught on fire out of over 4.5m. I wonder how many gas station fires have happened in that same time span? Should we be super concerned about gas station fires even if it only happens .0000044% of the time someone pumps gas? This is how dumb the logic is at this point.

BEV's shit all over ICE in every category except price point (because demand is so high due to the massive performance gap, supply is slowly catching up) and towing range under load, that's it.

Do you have any stories of the currently existing teslas and other BEVs igniting all over the rust belt and northeast? Or are you just inventing scary things?

That cartoon could have been altered and used a couple years back. People over react for many things.

Yeah like BEV's and battery fires, an over reaction is an understatement.

They happen. I wouldn't worry about it, but they do happen. I would not avoid driving or purchasing an EV over the rare occurrence of a battery fire. I would wait to purchase an EV that won't ignite do to submersion in salt water. There needs to be better batteries than lithium ion.

You all need to just ignore him. He has been presented this information dozens of times just in my time here. He says the same things in every ev thread, ignores the responses every single time, and then goes and uses the same arguments again and again and again.
Everyone I know who participates in the ev threads has shut him off. He will not listen to anything he does not want to hear. That man is completely bought by his politics and cannot acknowledge anything that doesn't agree with it.

I can't recall ever posting the same incident more than once. To think politics has any motivation one way or the other is blatantly ignorant on your part. I can let the topic move on.

I sense your sarcasm, but what is your actual point here? If the decade and a half since the model S hit wide release hasn’t led to widespread lithium fires in the northeast, when will it happen?

Was immersion in salt water a requirement when you bought your 2012, and how did you test it?

I don't understand how BEV's are even political to some people. It's just an objectively better performing vehicle by nearly every quantifiable metric.

So if your current Tacoma got flooded in saltwater you would keep it and not file an insurance claim that would result in a total loss? You seem overly concerned about your vehicle being involved in a major natural disaster like being flooded by saltwater.

"But what if a tornado hit my Tacoma!?!?! I won't buy one until it's tornado proof!"

Fear used as control. These folks are being told that "they" are taking away their gas cars. They so fear being manipulated that they are easily manipulated.

In truth, similar fear is used to drive issues on the other side of the political spectrum as well.

Horseshoe theory is a fun one to dive into if you are interested. It's interesting to see both ends of the political spectrum being manipulated with near the same fears.

It's amazing people get so worked up about BEV. There are a few wrecks and a few fires, and people will defend EVs and call people anti EV, and say it's political. The same people running the show promote and fund EV development while simultaneously investigate EV crashes. With the exception of the EV only start ups, all of the other EV manufacturers build both EV and ICE vehicles. How EV could be a divisive issue is rather puzzling.
