Any type of dealer/broker makes money through sales transactions. How often have you heard a car dealer, stock broker, or Realtor say it was a bad time to buy?

They don't worry about a good or bad market, they make the market. They just want to keep the market moving. That's why the pandemic hurt for them; no cars to sell (new or used). If they could get you back to upgrade every year they would. And if you don't upgrade? Then maybe you'll come in for parts or service. They really have most of the bases covered.
Just remember they won't make a deal if it will lose them money.

As long as they are fair and honest, I think they are just good businesspeople. Adding thousands or requiring overpriced stuff they added just because they can (or selling you service you don't need) doesn't fit the fair & honest part for me and I resent that.

Or like when the finance guys' first offer is 12.99%. After you say NFW enough times, you walk out with 3.49% on the loan! lol

Did a little vinyl work today: door handle covers, glove box keyhole cover, and blacked out the silver on the stock wheels (1 side down; driver side tomorrow). I think it came out nice so I just hope it holds up in the long term.
Vinyl is from TVD Vinyl Decals.

Before any one asks, no, I am not worried about blacking out every shiny bit. Just doing the things I want as I go along.
I wasn't going to worry about the keyhole cover, but it bumped me into free shipping territory and was a 30-second install so why not? For the door handles, I thought about the Meso overlays but they were out of stock and 3x the cost. The wheel vinyl requires a lot of patience; almost an hour per wheel. But it's pretty inexpensive compared to new wheels.

I certainly hope nothing occurs like that for me but like many other things it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Good point. Consumers need to wise up then. Dealerships could find themselves in the same boat again. If they overinflate the market then people won't go running out every 3-5 years for something new.

Is it "fair" to charge someone $17k for a car that was $20k 6 years ago with 100,000 miles? I'd say NO. But dummies are messing everything up and actually paying those prices because they now HAVE TO.

    Why?

Is it "honest" for Toyota to tell me there are no brand new RAV 4s?? I went there on a Sunday and their lot was filled with nothing but used cars....not a single brand new car to even look at???? Guess what ...they had new inventory......it was Hidden among damaged and wrecked cars that were parked in a completely separate lot in the backscheduled to get in the body shop...... There were 6 brand new RAV 4s among many other brand new vehicles.. This was last year so maybe something has changed, but that's just a way to create a false supply shortage in order to over inflate used cars...... Why would I pay 29k for a used RAV 4 when I could pay 32k for a brand new one?

To me it wasn't good business.. it was a friggin scam.

Decided to upgrade. Traded in the 19 Sport when I found a 2022 TRD Pro on a Honda lot. Manual transmission, 7,800 miles and as clean as 0 miles. Time to get some new accessories again and enjoy. Pics are from when I brought it home yesterday, next to the girlfriend's 2023 Trailsport.

Installed a 4x4 emblem on the tailgate of my 19 Sport. Always bugged me that the only put the 4x4 designation on the sticker on the side.

Looks great and we’re on the same page. I’ve had those same wheel overlays sitting on my desk for a while now. I mostly wanted to see what it would look like with black wheels without the expense and a way to reverse it. But patience is not my strong suit so they may sit there for a while longer. I like how it looks on yours!
