EV battery production factory goes up in flames....bwahaha just kidding....just another gas refinery fire in Louisiana evacuating a radius of 2 miles and released toxic plumes of burning chemicals that will affect humans there for about a decade. But hey, EV's are a scam... right?

Even worse gas prices will go up. LI batteries biggest flaw is them being a potential fire hazard. Are solid state batteries, or other batteries not a fire hazard. Battery fires aren't likely but they are intense when they burn.

If salt water is causing battery fires. What will happen to a BEV if it sees extended time driven on wet salty slush covered roads?

Here's an LI BEV that burned away at a gas station. None of the petroleum at the station ignited despite the intense fire burning above the storage tanks.

Funny that we bicker on what form of vehicle propulsion is the best for the planet, while the population spreads like a plague…

Explore the world with Timelapse in Google Earth
    1. On your computer, open Google Earth.
    2. On the left, click Voyager .
    3. Click Layers. Timelapse in Google Earth.
    4. In the right panel, under the “Stories” tab, choose a story. To move between the story's locations: At the bottom right, click the arrows.

Hear a lot of talk of emissions, but not much about this below. Musk himself is pushing that the population has to grow, is that really the best thing for the planet?

Some of the bickering comes from the amount of damage caused by different forms of transportation. But there is a solution proposed by the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement https://www.vhemt.org/ and it's pretty much a given that it stands zero chance of success. So, save the few that chose that way, it's up to the rest of us to reduce the damage as much as we can.

Oh and Musk is a douche nozzle. The only thing I can give him credit for is pissing off both the left and right. Which when you think about it probably means he close to correct. Cause lord knows the left and right are fffuuuccckkkeeeddd uuuppp. He's still a douche nozzle though.

What amazes me is those that despise evs because they are being "forced" upon us and so they use the population argument which is FAR more draconian. I'm sure they would criticize China for its population control efforts but they will quickly use population as an alternative to driving evs.

Completely agree on your comments about Musk. I'm just glad his ego is destroying twitter instead of his other companies. If anything maybe that dumpster fire will be a check to his ego.

That is thing, EVs really aren’t that much better for the environment, go from exploiting petroleum to exploiting minerals even more so.

Musk might be right on one thing, humans need to jump off this rock and figure out how to live on other planets as the resources here are finite.

Or maybe this planet will get lucky…

Some countries will have a population collapse in the near future.

Zero population growth would be the best thing for the planet. Plus it is nonviolent and economical. Practice that for 120 years or so, that should do the trick. lol!

Ever sit down and calculate how much environmental damage Musk has done and continues to do both privately and his companies? It isn’t good. @jsi is good with numbers, he should be able to tell us how much CO2 he produces and how much habitat has been lost with the construction of his factories and how much resources/energy they consume.

Never really paid attention to Twitter. Only after Musk took it over, seems like he uses it to showcase his ego. Just another spoiled rich kid screaming for attention. Seems like he cares more about making money than saving the environment or humanity.

True, but compared so alternatives that don’t involve population control it isn’t so bad. Look at SpaceX and how they pioneered, developed and proved the sustainability of reusable orbital launch rockets. In the last six years they have preserved the resources of nearly 200 rockets and not dumped them into the ocean as pollution like everyone else.

And how much CO2 and pollution have all those multiple rocket launches contributed to environmental damage?

How many billions of people don’t have access to clean drinking water or sanitation services? We can’t even get that right, yet we are helping some rich guy live out his childhood fantasies of being an astronaut. Think we should solve the problems on our own planet before we go screw up another. Or perhaps that is the only reason we are here, to use up a planet’s resources then spread out amongst the cosmos ever consuming.

One launch is equivalent to the annual emissions of roughly 70 cars.

Directly into the atmosphere. Not launching rockets at all would be even better.

How long would it take to use up the planet’s resources if we all lived like Musk?

If people really wanted to save the environment, they would quit buying shit.

Have a few friends that live with an incredibly small footprint print, those people are doing way more for the planet and humanity than Musk could ever dream of. He would probably go absolutely insane if he was forced to live like them.

Don’t believe his ideals of living a life of excess is doing the planet or humanity any good. His cult followers sure do eat it up though. “Gosh! We can have our cake and eat it too!?” …..ummm no

My home is 160sqft, don’t need to tell me about living small.

There are ways to have your cake and do it better rather than just not have any cake at all. One is realistic, the other is an impossible dream that will never happen.
